I saw a program (NOVA, probably) years and years ago that said many patients may have to try five or more different prescriptions to find the right one. That’s months and months of misery, and most patients get discouraged with side effects and lack of efficacy and stop after trying three prescriptions. That certainly happened to me. I tried Prozac, then Zoloft, and gave up because they didn’t help and I couldn’t function at my job.
