low taxes and sunshine! Let someone else pay for me!

Selfishness seems to be quite exceptional.

Living in San Francisco, I’m sensitive to accusations of building where nothing should be built. But for 100-plus years, the physics of tall buildings on fault lines has been taken into consideration, and the 1989 quake (which I experienced first-hand), could have been a lot worse than it was.

Short-term, of course there was need for outside assistance. But I don’t recall anyone begging for massive Federal assistance to help us rebuild (our official city flag features a phoenix rising from the flames).

Give Florida back to the alligators. It was politicians and developers that destroyed their environment in the first place.

And what about your right to run people over in the street?

I believe every Florida Republican congressman and senator voted against hurricane aid.

No problem. I’m a Republican; the government will take care of me.

It always gets wash out to sea!

It’s pure idiocy to build on sand spits and barrier islands. Just sayin’.
