Great message! And what will Mitt do? He says he will secure America’s values in the Middle East and around the world. But then he goes on to say, “he’ll do it with solemnity, without false pride but also firmly and actively”. And just to be sure, he’ll build fifteen new ships per year to reinforce the message. And it will all be done on a balanced budget without tax increases. You cannot trust this man. We’ve heard this before and it ends in collapse and disaster.

The cartoon stands on its own as a truth. It doesn’t matter what the candidates do. What are we going to do to order our elected officials to care for the old who served their country in one regard or another for so long. We also need to care for those who, because of race, poverty, illness, or abuse were unable to serve as much as some feel they should have. If you are only writing in these comment pages, if you never call, email, or send a handwritten letter to your elected officials, you are not participating, and you are not helping that old lady….or man…you will one day become.Respectfully, and getting old ;)C.

Rome at its end was a Bread and Circus empires who expended its wealth on wars and self indulgence. Its own armies turned on it long before the ‘barbarians’ came in. We are still a great nation, but we do not have great leaders in our legislatures…national or state..in quantity or quality to set aside the issues on which we disagree in order to fix the things we can agree upon. For instance, a bill that would have given more money to US embassies and consulates worldwide, including the one in Libya, was filibustered in the senate because it was coupled with other legislation the Republicans and some Democrats opposed. Another good argument for a line item veto. That would really make the buck stop at the president’s desk.Respectfully,C.

Would really like to talk to you in a less trollridden comment board my Tyrannical friend. Why do we disagree on more things than those on which we do agree?Because most of the focus goes to the topics on which we can’t agree because of religious or cultural paradigms. We want to live downstream and downwind from industries without worrying about our water, but instead of the media focuses on abortion and gay marriage. We want to drive on safe roads, cross safe bridges, and pass through safe tunnels, but instead of pointing out on a daily basis colored maps where these things are needed, we get colored graphs about poll numbers and debate on swing states. I can continue, but I think I’d be teaching the professor.CNN briefly had a ‘town hall’ hour, where people visiting their studio had a chance to ask questions and give opinions. We need more forums in which we can talk about those things we agree upon. More ppl vote on So You Think America’s Got Idols(Couldn’t get voice and x factor in to that) than they do for their elected officials. Election day needs to be a day off. News organizations must give us the NEWS that candidates are lying when they are. But if you call enough repubs liars, they won’t show up on MSNBC and the same with Dems and Fox. As long as media is competing for access instead of holding the accessible and inaccessible to the truth, we are crippled. The modern media news outlet would NEVER allow Edward Murrow to take McCarthy to task as he did. The McCarthy’s of our day, and they exist on both sides of the aisle, are safe from the level of scrutiny that brought down McCarthy and helped bring about Civil Rights.I liked Cain too. But I kind of put him in the same boat as Gingrich in that I felt Newt, who I don’t like, wasn’t running for president as much as he was preselling his next book. I didn’t know if Cain REALLY wanted to be president or if he just wanted the advertising. As far as bills go- there should be an all encompassing sentence stating what the purpose and intent of the law is to be as a way to pre close loopholes people might want to put in it. This bill is to keep the waterway clean, anything that dirty’s this waterway is against this law.I am an idealisic pessimist, and a very cynical optimist and I have the Myer’s Briggs Personality indicator to prove it. ;)Take care gentle tyrant.C.

Try this link instead. It’s from a not-for-profit organization that wants to show everyone where the “pork” (what you were yelling about) is in our government.
