Best to bake them in the skin because it is a pain to remove. Even if you don’t bake all the way, put it in long enough to loosen it, scoop it like an avocado, then do your soup or puree or other non-chunky version. Personally, it’s great baked with some brown sugar, cinnamon and butter, with a bit of fresh nutmeg grated on just before it’s done.
Donna’s toothy rebuttal squashes the theory that this squash is edible raw. And pizza is always a viable option for a tasty alternative! Go for the pizza, girls!

My opinion the best way to eat squash is slices, sautéed, baked for 1 hour then put it in the dog’s dish.
