I’m a big fan of those why-planes-crash documentaries. One thing I’ve noticed is how often pilots don’t know what problems they are having because they can’t see enough of the airplane from the cockpit. One plane crash in Britain occurred when the left engine failed and the pilots mistakenly turned off the right-side engine despite all the flames spout from the left.
My little car has three video cameras. How hard would it be to add a few to commercial jets to allow a view of the engines, wings, and tail?
