No girl scout came to my front door but there isn’t any doorbell anyway. I’d probably have eaten them up by now.

If I were down to my last 5 dollars and my last 5 minutes on Earth and spotted a Girl Scout selling cookies, I’d die broke but happy.

Thanks for the warning Mr. Bell, and appreciate the girl scout cookie ‘thing that I have been a victim of’. My wife works in an ICU that was/is a COVID unit and they are still seeing new patients dying- many of them younger than previously (she’s not sure if variants or what). As much as I hated the racist demagogue that was our 45th president it is infuriating that the press is effectively giving Biden a pass on his declaring victory before we’ve actually won.

Clyde, have you gotten your vaccine? No one says you have to NOT wear a mask. So stay home, have everything delivered. The rest of us want to get on with our lives.

My name is Andy and I am a cookieholic.

Between my 3 nieces the cookie binge was spread over 17 years (burp). Thin Mints, frozen. I set the tone early by buying a case from niece #1 the 1st year when she was 5.

2 years later niece #2 joined the troop and I could not bring myself to penalize the girls by splitting the order, especially with the recent birth of #3 and the inevitable 3rd case of cookies. By then, even as I was publicly decrying the cost and imposition on Uncle Andy I was secretly lusting for day I could bump up to 3 cases

1/3-1/2 sleeve per sitting with a tall glass of icy cold whole milk. Soon I was buying TM’s from random cookie tables at grocery stores. I’m sure you all understand.

I made a decision during the last year of #3’s time in the scouts. I would go cold cookie once the last case was purchased and consumed. It was hard, very hard. The temptation was brutal in the early years, but it faded over time. I am now cookie free for 21 years, but even today I have cravings and the irrational urge to lash out at little girls in green.

JohnMiller2: How’d that Clorox treatment go for you?

The only thing Trump ever wanted to donabout COVID was make himself look good—hr failed miserably at that—and rile up his base for his own benefit.

Now here’s Biden on May 17, 2021 on COVID:

“We know there will be advances and setbacks, and we know that there are many flare-ups that could occur.

But if the unvaccinated get vaccinated, they will protect themselves and other unvaccinated people around them. If they do not, states with low vaccination rates may see those rates go up — may see this progress reversed.

Ultimately, those who are not vaccinated will pay — end up paying the price. The vaccinated will continue to be protected against severe illnesses, but others may not be if you’re not vaccinated.

But given that the vaccination is convenient and free, it will be a tragedy if — and a needless one — to see COVID cases among those who do not get vaccinated go up.

We are not done fighting this virus. We still have tens of millions left to vaccinate. But we are making significant progress."

Explain how this constitutes “Declaring victory”.

If you take out the vaccinated people from the statistics, the virus is still spreading at the same rate as before. The longer the virus can maintain a chain of contagion, the greater the chance of more virulent mutations. You’re not fooling anybody by avoiding vaccination, you are especially not fooling the virus. Another note – forgery of medical documents can be a federal crime.
