I suppose ‘Spanish Flu’ and ‘Black Death’ are racist too? And what about ‘Yellow Fever’?

Maybe he should wear gloves also. Will he be able to ride a bus and stay six feet away from the other riders?

    The actual virus is SARS-CoV-2.

COVID-19 comes from Coronavirus disease, first detected in 2019.

djt now tells us he knew all along it was bad and just wishes China had reported it 4 months earlier. (It was first discovered early in December 2019, reported by December 31, so he wishes they had reported its existence September 1. I wish I could do that too!!)

But as usual, Darrin nails the attitude:

“He never said it was a hoax. He said the reporters, the “Fake News” reporting, was a hoax!!!"

“You mean their reporting that it was a deadly spreading disease apt to cause a pandemic?”

    “Yeah!!! That.”

    “Well, didn’t it?”

    “You’re just an anti-Trumper!!!”

“Finally, a glint of truth, but you are confusing cause and effect. I dislike liars.”

Interesting how some still claim it is a hoax AND that it is a Chinese disease. (The virus came from China but has no citizenship papers.)

I had to pick up some groceries today. There were tape marks on the floor at the checkout for people to stay a proper distance from each other. A couple and their child all stood behind me in the space between the tapes. They were just a few feet from me. Some people just don’t get it or don’t believe it affects them.

It is all fake news and a scam, until someone you know and love is sick and dying or soon will be dead. Darwin and Mother Nature doing exactly what they do. Please be wise and think.

People of Asian extraction have been assaulted in New York because Trump called the virus Chinese.

    German Measles

    St Louis Encephalitis

    West Nile Virus

    Lyme Disease (Connecticut)

    Hong Kong Flu

    Zika (Uganda)

    Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever

    MERS (Midlle East)

    Stockholm Syndrome

    Lou Gehrig’s Disease(!)

    Legionnaire’s Disease

    Ebola (Congo)

    Chikungunya (Bantu word)

Are all of these derogatory? Suddenly? Were they always derogaroty? Or only some of them?

Don’t those names signify our COMMON HUMANITY? Quit insisting on looking through a prism that breaks things out, rather than a lens that focuses. Those name say we are the same as these very foreign seeming people from all around the world. They emphasize that some differences are literally only skin deep!

If you live in Bangladesh, Germany can seem very foreign, but you & the Germans can both get the same Measles. You may play “football” (“soccer” to you Americans), but you can succumb to the same disease that took down a player of that weird very foreign American game of “baseball”. Keep those names. We are all in this together.

I am not convinced this originated in China. But my evidence is strictly anecdotal.

My wife got sick Jan 15, after flying Jan 7 from Belize-ATL-D.C., before CV19 was widely known or had supposedly escaper China. The doctor 1/15 said she had the same crud that was going around. In retrospect, the same symptoms. Others in the area say they saw it starting before Christmas. She has never recovered & was diagnosed CV19 last Friday. Whether relapse, or new infection, I don’t know.

(No, I don’t think the US military deliberately infected China. Nor did China deliberately infect the world. Let me just get that out there.)

The Coronavirus Is the Worst Intelligence Failure in U.S. History

It’s more glaring than Pearl Harbor and 9/11—and it’s all the fault of Donald Trump’s leadership.

The federal government alone has the resources and authorities to lead the relevant public and private stakeholders to confront the foreseeable harms posed by the virus.

Unfortunately, Trump officials made a series of judgments (minimizing the hazards of COVID-19) and decisions (refusing to act with the urgency required) that have needlessly made Americans far less safe.

In short, the Trump administration forced a catastrophic strategic surprise onto the American people.

But unlike past strategic surprises—Pearl Harbor, the Iranian revolution of 1979, or especially 9/11—the current one was brought about by unprecedented indifference, even willful negligence.

The White House detachment and nonchalance during the early stages of the coronavirus outbreak will be among the most costly decisions of any modern presidency.

These officials were presented with a clear progression of warnings and crucial decision points far enough in advance that the country could have been far better prepared.

But the way that they squandered the gifts of foresight and time should never be forgotten, nor should the reason they were squandered: Trump was initially wrong, so his inner circle promoted that wrongness rhetorically and with inadequate policies for far too long, and even today. Americans will now pay the price for decades.

It isn’t COVID-19 if you are speaking of the virus. It is SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-CoronaVirus-2), which is the virus that causes COVID-19 (COronaVIrus Disease 2019).
