Right, I knew I missed something in this arc :)
Probably always DID.
From your heart to his, and also to ours. Thank you for sharing your love and pride with us…
I love this tribute, Mr. Bell, thank you for sharing and triggering some wonderful memories of my own late grandparents.
I thought it was an arc to remind us of the Greatest Generation. I understand now. Excellent.
Sorry for your loss but grateful for your Grandpq
Sorry for your loss. Your father sounded like a great man.
I am surprised he could do this strip so soon after loosing his grandfather, I get misty eyed just reading it. To have thought it out with the lead times involved, it is amazing work.
Oooooh, NOW I understand this week. Sweet.
Does grandson & “fiancee” have a ring and a date?If not, she’s not a finacee, she’s a concubine. If so, she’ll soon be his SIgnificant Other. Congratulations. If not, she’s an INSignificant Other.
Maybe Roscoe will be Coach Wooden’s assistant. Coach Wooden had his rolled up program and Roscoe his newspaper.
My condolences for your loss, Darrin, and than you for sharing your life with us…
This was a wonderful tribute. Sorry for your loss.
Brought a tear to my eye today. Darrin Bell has an awful lot of heart.
Well done Darrin! Thanks for sharing this bit of your Grand dad with us. No matter how the world treated him he stood to a great role model for you and your family.Thank you again for sharing!
This was beautiful! The strips just get more moving.
Very nice tribute. Wonderful.
I suspected. Made me cry anyway. Thanks a lot! No, really…thanks a lot. Yours is a strip I NEVER miss!
Lovely tribute, mr. Bell. May your good memories continue to comfort you ~
Zusan! I wanna see Zusan!
Great tribute. He must have been a fine man and a joy to know. You were lucky to have had him as your grandfather.
Thank you for this week’s strips. Very well expressed and I am so glad to have been able to share.
That was indeed, a great tribute, and a bit of a surprise.
Read your blog post a few days ago about your grampa, Mr. Bell, and cried, and just now did all over again. Tears of joy and weeping for the loss and the good example to all of us. Wishing you and your family all the best.
Yeah, I’m sorry, I’m a little misty myself. I loved it.
Sportymonk: It depends a lot on the individual survivor. I played Just a Closer Walk with Thee at my mother’s funeral. Some have asked that same question in that regard. If you really believe the Gospel, it isn’t hard, it’s almost mandatory.
I am very sorry for your loss. I wish I could have had the opportunity to meet your grandfather although, in some ways it feels like I have. What a wonderful tribute to a man for whom you obviously had a great deal of love and respect. Thank you for sharing him with us.
Oh man, that’s touching. Big hug, Darrin Bell.
My condolences on the loss of your obviously beloved grandfather.
A beautiful, loving tribute. My condolences, although he seems like both he and you are at peace.
Thank you. Your grandfather was truly a great man. It was nice to read how he had the people he loved around him when he passed. Not every grandchild would help out like that. You are honoring your grandfather’s memory.
I have breezed through the comments. Came here because the name of the veteran eluded me until today. Darrin, I am so sorry for your loss and cried for you tonight. May he rest in peace and may you be at peace. I loved the strip this week and will now go and try to find your blog to read. (I don’t often come to the comments here as I have my favorites e-mailed to me and just read there…) Again, my condolences.
I am sorry for your loss, but rejoice that you had the gain of the relationship with him. And congratulations on your impending marriage. And I am also glad that he was able to have his companion there as well.
“He was with me when I left for home.”Very touching.
I am late saying this, but the tribute to your Grandfather was one of the most moving pieces I’ve ever seen. It was wonderfully done.
Very cool tribute to your grandfather
