He’s smocking you!
Nothing is wrong with Hobbes. It’s what’s wrong with his best friend.
Smock this, smock that. Just smack Hobbes, Calvin.
Smock it to me.
Seriously Calvin, do you know what happens when you get clay all over tiger fur?
Calvin should respond by saying “spam, spam, spam, spam.”
One of my faves. It was posted on a friend’s fridge for so long that the paper had gotten tan and brittle.
Dad must be a good incomer, owning such a valuable shirt!!
Who is Hobbes really, Steve Allen?
Smockety, Smock, Smock!
Calvin will find out what’s wrong with Hobbes if he tries to smock him.
I just LOVE Hobbes!
He’s not smug, he’s smock!
That’s Mr. Smock to you!
Next, Hobbes will want a silk “smocking” jacket!!
You may have to smock him one to the side of his head.
This was how I learned the word smock as a kid and I probably annoyed my mum by saying it constantly.
The Icelandic word “smokkur” is cognate with the english word “smock”. It means “condom”.
Wait until dad gets home. He’s going to get his a$$ smocked.
Worked in a clean room with a smock and a snood!
Lol the power to affect others is almost always through personification. King Arthur had Excalibur to rule his kingdom and Hobbes has his smock to make a masterpiece.
Steve Allen used to get hung up on that word, too.
In the last panel, one can see Calvin taking after his mom.
I said yesterday that Hobbes was making a smockery of everything!
This has always been one of my favorite strips =) smock smock smock
He sorta looks like he’s in the funny farm. …what?
Captain Jerk and Mister Smock.
Reminds me of an episode of “Two and a Half Men” entitled, “Squab, Squab, Squab, Squab, Squab.” It was one of their best episodes.
Does anyone remember when Steve Allen hosted the Tonight Show and “smock smock” was one of his routines?
That’s just like my dad and the word “banana.”
It’s about as much fun to say “smock” as it is to say “schnapps”…
smock is a fun word…
I like saying rutabaga.
Rutabaga, rutabaga, rutabaga, rutabaga, rutabaga, rutabaga!
Well, smock you!
Hobbes has been taking front and center, lately. Love it.
I thought you liked fun, Calvin. Lighten up.
Squab. Squab. Squab.
“I’ll smock you right in the face”
Smock smock smock smock smock! Calvin, join us!
Come to the smocky side, Calvin! >:)
The only thing missing is the sleeves rolled and bunched up. About seven times. Plus you need someone to fasten the top button from the back.
This strike me as very funny! Maybe there is something wrong with me!
I’m suddenly have a flashback to the old Dr. Smock comic strip.
I’m trying to remember, is this the lead in to "pouncing tiger, hideous ashtray’?
I love it when Hobbes gets Calvin’s goat.
You know why Hobbes likes the word " smock"? It is very close to smooch. And Hobbes has shown he is VERY open to smooches.
You mean other than the fact that he’s a talking stuff toy that’s smarter than his owner?
Steve Allen allusion.
This is one of those few times when Hobbes is the irritating one!
Quit smocking around and get your smock dirty. That’s what a real artist does.
I believe this is a parody of the “artist” who is always admiring and buying new brushes, canvases, paints and easels but never seems to actually use them for more than five minutes at a time. Believe me, I used to be one of those guys. I was saved by an excellent Muse, who just happened to be a cat. :)
The overwhelming smocking there, alright.
Smack the smock right out of him, Calvin!!
It is a fun word to say. Not gonna lie..
Holy smock! I think Hobbes is getting on Calvin’s nerves a bit …
