I remember getting a kid too wound up to sleep once. Did it on purpose, too, having put up with the little “angel” for a week. Thought I’d let mummy deal with her darling and see how much fun it was.
This is certainly a wonderful Calvin and Hobbes strip. It’s very good to see Mom and Calvin having fun together although it does backfire on Mom as she puts herself to sleep rather than Calvin.
It’s the first time we’ve actually seen one of Calvin‘s parents positively engage with him. They only have themselves to blame for his behavior which is obviously to get their attention
To GoComics, don’t forget that there’s still a sabbatical Sunday strip you missed one week, before the “new” comics are supposed to resume at the end of this month. But besides that, in this strip at least here they actually mean well, compared to when Calvin attempted a similar stunt in 1993… https://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1993/04/25
Do people not get it? It may seem like a wholesome moment with Calvin and his mom, but the last panel proves it was all a ploy to tire Calvin out to get him to go to bed.

One of them is going to have a good night’s sleep. The other one is going to have some happy memories.

Loads of quality time with the kid has taken its toll on mom. Dad did miss the bus, I guess.

Oddly enough, that’s what happens when I play with my dogs. I’m tired and they’re hungry.

Kids get the energy from their parents. They just take it

I remember this one, still very enjoyable to see again.

Nice to see Calvin actually being a kid, instead of a junior dictator…

Nothing wrong with a little cat nap and Mom is curled just like Hobbes.

Should not have let him have that 4th bowl of Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs cereal as a bedtime snack.

Great moment. Normally we see Calvin’s Mom mad at him for various Calvin moments

Thinking that mom needed to be put to bed was dad’s mistake that resulted in Calvin.
