Now the other scouts and the scout master will hardly get some sleep themselves.

At least Calvin has the making to be a good scout — he’s prepared.

I had an aunt who didn’t believe in ghosts, but was afraid of them.

We see what kind of character Calvin has built.

How did Calvin (of all people) get into the Scouts??

I suppose Dad got tired of trying to “build character”, and decided to let the BSA take on that impossible task.

I have heard of a cowardly lion, but never a cowardly tiger. Before now, anyways. Sheesh.

Just when did he get in the scouts?

This strip reminds me of a story from 1963. Had a sleepover with my friend, we were both 5 years old, who’s parents decided to watch Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” on TV that night. Well of course we saw most of it too – when we could keep our eyes open. We then made a fort under the table with blankets and pillows and stayed in there all night with all the lights blazing. Scariest night of my young life!

Hopelessly lost, the drooling, gibbering monsters were relieved to see a bright light in the distance.

Hard to believe Calvin was a scout once. The kid was actually willing to go to camp with other kids. Why did that stop?

K.C. of Sunshine Band fame is a Boogeyman. Told to me by an ear worm which will haunt me for the rest of the day since Calvin brought it up. Thanks, Cal :(

I don´t believe in ghosts but I do like spirits!

Since he is 6 he likely is a Tiger Cub Scout and not likely to go camping with his Den. Camping usually starts when you become a Webelo at 4/5th grade. Like removing a tire carrying a heavy generator is a two man project.

See. “Be Prepared” means more than just a pocket knife and water proof matches.

Now they will be able to see the boogeyman when he attacks.

Try living in a funeral home, have done that for last 20 years!

Scariest day for me was watching The Blob with Steve McQueen on the big screen at age 6.

Where are all the bear traps around the tent? Prepared? Geesh….

Forget about the boogie man – I’d be more scared of a real Tiger in the woods!

Calvin as a scout had some some potential that was never explored.

I don’t remember this one, but calvin seems to be wearing a cub scout uniform, he’s not exactly what you’d call a joiner.

In researching our old farmhouse history, at least nine ppl have died there and were ‘on funeral display’ in the front parlor. Ma was deathly afraid ot the ghosts that hung around that old house. I never knew why a ghost should come back to haunt and bother me. Of my two youthful encounters, they were just a “Hi, how ya doin’?” kinda thing..

Hmmm… Calvin is a Cub Scout.

As a long, long time scout, scout master and cub master this toon has some truth to it.

What are they doing up so late? A waning crescent moon of that phase doesn’t rise until 1:30 am or later!

Wonder how the two of them carried the Gen set all the way.
