That from Hobbes is oddly specific. And surprisingly agreeable to Calvin too.

A couple of weeks ago (May 14 2021 to be precise), Hobbes’ theory was that one goes to Pittsburgh upon death. Quite a bit of thought development over a short time…

Hobbes’ comment made me think of “Some Like It Hot”…..

An anagram of what Calvin says in the last frame is, “Hey! One abusive evil One.”

I think Hobbes is just a little fuzzy about that concept!

Sounds more like Bill Clinton’s idea of Heaven.

I like this one. I saved it the last time around. It’s totally silly – which is why I like it.

Strips like this have me wondering about whether Watterson expects Hobbes to live on in the Afterlife. I originally assumed that Watterson intended Hobbes to be Calvin’s imaginary friend but later started to doubt this due to Hobbes showing a knowledge that is often beyond Calvin and making comments which Calvin doesn’t understand. In 1992, I learned that Watterson definitely doesn’t see Hobbes as an imaginary friend and I later learned that he thinks “imaginary friends are boring”.

I like to think that Calvin and Hobbes will eventually be together in Heaven as Red and Rover eventually will be in another comic strip. Calvin will probably have to spend some time in Purgatory before he enters Heaven as he expects in a later strip. Perhaps he and Hobbes will be united in Purgatory before they go to Heaven.

I’m well aware that many readers believe Hobbes is an imaginary friend although Watterson didn’t see him as such and that many readers don’t believe in any afterlife.
