All the Planet Fivers are GONE!
If you had quit your daydreaming, Calvin, this wouldn’t have happened.
oh Calvin, so close.
And all of Calvin’s money.
Yep. I knew this was taking too long.
And we all knew he’d get the wrong answer anyway.
Wonder what Susie will buy with her quarter?
The answer is: detention!!!
Another mission failed!
His dad will be so disappointed in him and the time he wasted on him with math.
Time sure flies when you fantasize.
Looks like Miss Wormwood is about to hand Calvin an"F" .
Love that shocked expression on Calvin’s face!
There should have been a Ralph Phillips cartoon (I think there was only ever two) where he was doing a class test and this happened, to show the young viewers back in the 1950s the dangers of excessive daydreaming. Though I guess in that case Looney Tunes would have looked like it was getting into social guidance films.
Now I remember this arc
Spaceman Spiff’s mission details failed to mention there was a time limit.
Commented days ago that Calvin needed to hurry up as there were more questions to answer.
Well Calvin, look at this way. Now you are left with only one big problem to solve.
You’re right. There was no hope. I kind of thought Calvin might get lucky.
At least he understood the concept they must combine.
See what happens when you spend a whole week on just the first problem. Better bust open that piggy bank and get that quarter out.
The PENNIES, Calvin!!! The PENNIES! You forgot what your dad taught you about using your common cents to do math!
Maybe…but according to Calvin’s theory, when 5 and 6 collide, the correct answer is -1
In FORTRAN, x = x+6 is a legitimate statement.
Space man spiff is techncily evil he killed the fivers
According to some ‘intellectuals’ 2 +2 = 5, so Calvin may be on to something. Orwell is rolling over in his grave.
so much for ceti alpha 5
But the good news is has an A in creative writing.
Spaceman Spiff and Duck Dodgers would make a good team.
I wish there were an educational track that could nurture and celebrate Calvin’s creativity and imagination, while at the same time teaching him basic skills…
Poor Planet 5. Maybe Spiff should sweep up the dust from it.
Calvin’s father needed to teach him to be more timely.
Spaceman Spiff has just achieved time travel.
So “visualizing” your solution does not always work. Good to know.
It’s going to be “deep six” for Calvin.
I men, he’s right…. IF the question was 6 __ 5.
Isn’t that what they used to call New Math?
Calvin doesn’t need good math skills. He can hire an accountant once the money starts rolling in from selling screen plays.
Just show her your “work”, she’ll understand.
ADD/ADHD should be diagnosed soonest.
Blast it! What a time for the evil Zorg to attack! :D
You’re off by about 5 there, Calvin.
Yes, but Planet Six broke into eleven pieces sometime later.
Calvin will grow up to invent a “new math” in which 5+6=6 and be honored as a great thinker.
The SAT should be fun to watch.
Makes me wonder how the compositions of the planets compared.
And got it wrong.
Did Calvin remember NOTHING about what his dad told him the previous day? I honestly can’t even comprehend not getting basic addition, it is literally just being able to count, just not starting from “1.” I don’t want to flex how good a student I was in elementary school, but stupidity of this level is too frustrating to be humorous, it passes the level of “this is an energetic but lazy kid” and goes into “this kid has an actual learning disability.”
And he got it wrong. Poor little guy…
At least Calvin knows the difference between “lose” and “loose”—puts him light years (pun intended) ahead of too many adults.
Oh no Calvin, I feel so sorry for you. But, on the other hand, I can’t stop laughing…
Sigh Why did Bill Watterson have to retire? I loved him and when I found out that he retired I was devastated, I wish he was still writing. At least make a Calvin and Hobbes show, at least it lasted a while. Good times, good times……
the good news is that spaceman spiff was able to escape, to go on to new adventures tomorrow.
Time flies when you’re having fun and trying to get an answer to a question
