It’s at moments like these one appreciates being in downtown Cleveland.
I wonder how Hobbes helped with this dead bug prank.
working in a grocery store is no peaceful walk in the park either
Nice how his first free time thought is to spend time with Calvin, even if he’s a maniacal little curveball.
Jeez, what did mom ever do to Calvin?
Maybe the bugs weren’t dead when they went into Mom’s shampoo.
It belongs on the sight!!
Lucky for dad it wasn’t 2020 back then, or he’d be working from home.
That puts it in perspective, doesn’t it, Dad?
Although this has repeated after a long time, it’s one of my favorites!
Calvin’s life will certainly be short if his mom has anything to say about it.
Those quiet, un-hassled days are few and far between, Dad.
Calvin the little psychopath.
But they were needing a wash….
Nobody told me… (Strange Days Indeed}
Work-? Smart move Dad.
Peace is where you find it. :D
Yup. That’s probably why men became hunters. The game is usually well away from the family and takes a good long while to get.
Right choice, dad.
That’s it dad….leave mom to deal with Calvin!
… a quiet day around the house?!? Yeah, with Calvin around, that is a pipe dream.
Ah. Being at work. The lesser of two weevils.
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho, it’s off to work we go…
Why some people are workaholics.
They closed the schools where I am 4 months ago…I’m a single parent now, live well away from my family, so 3 kids in the house.
Reality vary rarely resembles our dreams
ROFLMAO at the eighth panel! And the dad ended up having a nice quiet day… at the office!
One of the few strips with Calvin barely in it.
That doesn’t work anymore. I’m working from home because of the government, COVID, or whatever. My kids have grown, but my grandkids have a hard time understanding that even though I’m home, I’m still “at work”.
I thought Watterson looked like Calvin, and it took me some years (well, back in the 90s) to realize that Watterson looks like Calvin’s dad. I developed a new sense of appreciation for this character. Today’s Father’s Day somewhere in the Caribbean, so happy Fathers’ Day, Calvin’s dad. <3
I wonder, if this were being drawn today, if consideration would be given to having the mother go happily off to work, leaving her househusband to deal with hearth and home and Calvin.
My three boys all have that talent. When all three get going I sometimes wish I could unretire. The thought that I will someday remember these times with fondness is not comforting.
Leave it to Calvin to destroy Dad’s chances of enjoying a great day.
at least he got to imagine how it could be if even for just a short moment.
Calvin’s dad is totally two-faced…
LOL!! a excellent reason for NOT having those to begin with
OMG……I had to get up and go to the loo after last panel !
Since she knows what was done she must have caught him just before he read the “repeat” instruction.
Hey, Dad, just wait for 2020 and your wish to stay home will come true.
There are days I wonder if Calvin survived into adulthood…..
At least this time they were dead.
Only Calvin. I can’t blame Dad for his decision about work, too.
Made me laugh.
Oh, the memories…
Sometimes the grass is greener on this side.
A day off at home is not always a day well spent.
Pre-pandemic, I often said I have to go to work to relax.
Interesting. No one commented about maybe the reason Calvin thinks up stunts is because Dad values work over time with the kid. Just sayin’.
Often office seems a better peaceful place than the house. Sometimes bosses seem better than spouses.
Calvin – I hope Mom fixes you a plate of the same dead bugs you put in her shampoo for dinner tonight!
What did he do this time?
It’s funny, most of the people I work with have flat out said that they enjoy coming to work because it gives them some time away from their family.
During this pandemic / quarantine / shelter in place, I am cleaning up the clutter around my desk. Throwing out expired coupons, shopping with valid coupons and saving money. My kitchen is clean and organized. Washing my own car, like I did at age 18.
This looks more like a Monday comic.
There at times in my job that I love it. I’m in the Army and when I was stationed in Hawaii I loved doing photos of Army training at Bellows Beach in the morning. Just drive there very early in the morning to beat traffic, nap and wake up to take photos and sometimes video. I’m very certain my kids were be terrors while I was getting photos on the beach and riding in helicopters.
