I certainly wouldn’t want a President who rides a wagon into a lake.

Which Calvin is going to be President, Spaceman Spiff or the Calvin that went to pieces when he broke the binoculars?

Every kid thinks like this. It’s why there’s a minimum age to run.

Just think if we didn’t have politicians what would we have complain about. Although to-night I have a big complaint, MY COMPUTER CAN’T SPELL.

So Calvin should be an adult by now and the world seems to be worse than ever.

I can forgive Calvin for being delusional. But not anyone else.

We can only hope, Calvin. We can only hope.

I met with some of the “children” who protested in DC in March. I’ve also met with the youth of our church who are getting ready to go to the poorest county in the state and patch roofs, repair floors and even build bridges for people who are too poor to repair their own homes.

    Yes, I do have hope.

I wonder what else Bill Watterson would have predicted had he continued with the comic. It was drawn 30 years ago and a lot of what is said can be attributed to current politics. (although if you look hard enough, the same could be said for everything that happened before now)

Poor, misled Calvin. Grown-ups are just ruining the whole world to their convenience and then leave the next generations with the mess, without even caring that some of the damage can’t ever be fixed.

Reading this 30 years later is depressing on so many levels.

I read somewhere that, as a child, Nixon said that he wanted to grow up to be president so that corruption like the Teapot-Dome scandal wouldn’t happen.

Setting aside the value judgement, this is strangely like Trumps ‘Only I can fix it’. Maybe magic 8 balls work after all.

There already is a word for running a country as if it was a person’s personal business. The word is “dictatorship”.

Calvin can be forgiven for having the naivete of a six-year-old, in his view of how easy it would be to “whip things into shape.” Trump is unforgivable.

Lucy Van Pelt once told Charlie Brown that grownups had only 12 years to fix all the problems in the world, because she wanted to live her entire adult life in a perfect world. “Tell ‘em not to bother wiring for an extension! The answer will be ’No!’”
