Calvin: "How can something seem so plausible at the time and so idiotic in retrospect?"

Napoleon and Hitler said the same thing after they invaded Russia.
I always wonder how the balloon doesn’t pop with all that water in….oh wait…..
It’s like when you vote.
That’s the “Streakers Defence” … “Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time, Your Honour” …
Best laid schemes of mice and men. . . . .
In a heat wave it would not be so idiotic.
The balloon is dropping!!
A cool shower on hot days is refreshing!
Calvin thought he could handle it, but he quickly discovered that he was in over his head, as things ballooned out of control. It’s similar to those who have taken out mortgages (especially balloon mortgages), only to discover that they are under water. Or those who devote everything to trying to become famous but instead are only able to make a very brief splash before they are washed up.
Both are sad now and regret it, it’s not kind a good play!!
This one has been on my fridge since it was first published.
Too bad Suzy wasn’t there to see that.
Those who live by the water balloon get “plooshed” by the water balloon…
Calvin, if you can answer that question you will have answered a major question of human existence.
Wait till you start voting, Calvin!
He’ll never learn how to toss a water balloon and catch it without breaking if he doesn’t try.
In true Thomas Edison fashion, he just discovered one more way that doesn’t work.
What a perfect Obama metaphor.
Notice that there’s nothing whatsoever in those 1st 2 panels to make you think the balloon is filled with water. Nonetheless, we all knew it was, didn’t we?Au Contraire! Look a bit closer. The balloon in panel one is very slightly deformed. In panel two is is significantly deformed. Filled with air the balloon would be perfectly symmetrical. Also, a balloon filled with air would not have the mass to be tossed up or to fall back down as implied by the movement marks.
Because we look at the facade before investigating the contents.
I purposely chose a reference that has nothing to do with a recent or current situation.
Boys love making things difficult.
Hi bmonk. Good to hear from you again.
This kind of thing happens to me all the time.
How about a nice game of chess?
