Yes!……. I’m first!………I’m first!Hello?…………… Anyone?Hmmm…………. Maybe it’s not all it’s cracked up to be………..
Perhaps Susie can get some consumer protection under her state’s lemon laws:Click here: Wikipedia

No doubt about it — Calvin is a budding Tea Partier!
Don’t we all, Calvin?
@legaleagle48. A member of the Tea Party would never asked for a subsidy from the govt.
Let’s see…….. that was Tea Party comment number 327……..(Don’t mind me – I’m just a tea-totaler.)
Hes got a good business head.most have studied economics some where.
Gotta say the kid has real-world economics down pat.
When you consider how topical these almost 30 year old cartoons were, Bill Watterson was not only the funniest cartoonist in history, he was also amazingly prophetic at the same time!!
It’s the consumer demand that really counts, Calvin. The customer is always right. You’d better take a pay cut if you want to stay in business.
It’s a pity that only the Susies of the world read this – the Calvins are too busy Calvinising it.
Market driven solutions, don’t like the price, don’t buy the product, producer figures it out eventually and either adjusts or another producer sells the same product at a more reasonable price.
Where is my subsidy?!!
who makes good lemonade? or, is it just swill with chemicals?
Calvin grew up and is now an investment banker.
Hi, JoanHelen. Hope things are going well in South Africa. Must be nice to live where the U.S. economy has no effect on you. (Just kidding – I remember you saying that when the U.S. economy sneezes, South Africa catches cold.) There are few places in the world that aren’t affected by the U.S. economy.
Solyndra… Here I come!
The kid has indeed real-world scarcity economics and even some political economy down pat. Sadly, next week he’ll probably be griping to Hobbes about the consumer driven greedy culture of corporate America. (Mind you, I’m a free market liberty fan; and today he nails it.)
Susie does too! The more options the consumer has, the better real pricing is; she SHOULD have choices and also be free to make them. This is not rocket science.
Gosh, there are lots of demands.
Wait… where are all the crybabies complaining about the political comments? Oh, I know… it’s a one-way street for you guys.
So lifelike, it’s eerie. All it needs is the union and management complaints and conflicts.
Or just agribusiness. Grow genetically modified corn nobody needs and get it made into ethanol. Subsidies. Welfare for corporate moochers.
Well Susie… Let’s just call it freshly squeezed lemonade made from high country, ultrafiltered spring water. Feel better about the $15 now?
Calvin could have gotten more of a profit if he had outsourced his lemon aid and had it made in China.
@ legaleeagle. Teapartierer? This is a perfect illustration of liberal business mindset, the very antithesis of conservative business practices. If Obama ran a business, this is the way he would do it.
@ legaleagle The corporate bailouts were to Obamas big contributors and leftist buddies as payback. That is called crony capitalism, redistribution of wealth, miles away from true free market capitalism.
Simple. In the early 1990s the Boomers became the dominant players on Wall street and in most large businesses, and they took their lack of morality into those businesses. Business went from “how do we make money?” to every kind of “what can we get away with” and “how can we play the game”?.There’s a reason that 90% of the money from big corporations went to Obama in 2008 and 2012..Please stop blaming the actions of those in your own party on others. Your willingness to lie in a public forum says something about you..Christ said, 33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak [a]what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. 35 The good man brings out of his good treasure ]what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil.".and “44 For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush. 45 The good man out of the good [a]treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.”
Look into how much Facebook is paying taxes this year, then get back to us. For Zuckerberg, it’s good to have low friends in high places.
Omnius, you wouldn’t know a tea-partier if you FELL over one. Always, even if the subject is kittens, you pop off like a broken record about tea-partiers. Btw, ask an older sort what a “record” is.
I am amazed to read these comments. Calvin demonstrates corporate greed at its worst and people here claim it’s how LIBERALS do business? That is simply dumb.
I will admit, though, that Calvin can’t be a Tea Partier. He spelled “lemonade” correctly.
Calvin has provided the entire U.S. business model and a college business course in one comic. Bravo!
I demand laughter from this comic strip.
It looks like Calvin is an Obama campaign donor.
You silly as—holes….. The strip is on RIGHT POINT…. We are getting jerked around by the HAVES.
Ah, free enterprise!
Hahahahaha… I love this strip today. Especially Calvin’s face in the 10th panel.
Just enjoy the comics and quit inserting your political views!
For all the Obama bashers out there may I remind you that this strip was written primarily during the Presidencies of Ronald Reagan and George Bush Sr? Seems to me if it is aimed at anyone, those are the people at whom it is aimed. What — Bill Watterson has ESP and wrote this because he had a vision of Barack Obama becoming President?
Just love todays strip. But I do not live in the US,I guess I must spend more time to understand your politics ,because I really want to understand what the heell you guys are talking about. We always buy and support America when ever we can,and proud to do so.
Hi Perkycat. I think we all have a choice to make – whether we will enjoy our lives, or whether we will spend our lives mired in arguments that can never be won. We can’t do both.
So say the corporations that are now people.
Interesting how everyone here sees Calvin as a perfect example of the other side. One comment calling him a baby Democrat, and the next one calling him a junior Republican.
PERFECT!!! Love it!!! ♥
Still relevant after all these years.
Yep. Sho ’nuff
Hi GretchensMom. Always nice to see your afternoon comments. May 27, 2000 was the day when more than 100 cartoonists paid tribute to Charles Schulz, following his death. Many of those strips are no longer available online because of copyright restrictions, but here are a few examples from the ones that still survive, which I think you will like:CathyLuannGarfieldTank McNamaraClose to HomeZiggy
Federal Subsidies, fiscal 2010, for electric power ($ per megawatt hour):
Oil and gas $0.64Hydropower 0.82Coal 0.64Nuclear 3.14Solar 775.64Wind 56.29
Make whatever political hay you wish of that.
@Night-Gaunt49: The Schulz tribute strips are available in book form from the Charles Schulz Museum in California, for $30. The book is called “Tribute to Sparky.” Go to the following link for the museum, then click on “Shop,” then “Books and Magazines.” It’s the book with the red cover.Click here: schulzmuseum.org
is this a repetition?..may be on 14th April 2011?
@Robert Landers & Night-Gaunt49 – It’s been going on for longer than that – but hardly anyone remembers.
Not only have they succeeded in reducing the average attention span to twelve minutes or thereabouts, they’ve arranged for those of us who are old enough to remember to be drugged silly and shoveled into warehouses.
Guess that fixes that …
Sure looks to me as if Capitalism has changed. These days it looks like government subsidized monopolies.
Greed will ultimately cause the demise of this country. For us, “The People,” to allow it to even get this bad is truly pathetic on our part.
I thought Watterson stopped drawing this strip in 1995 (per Wikipedia). True? The point here seems very up-to-the-minute!
Well, that’s Capitalism.
