Calvin has a future as a political consultant.
Everything is theater!
Just wait until the Photoshop era…
Cameras, like computers, only do what they are instructed to.
No, people were doing this kind of thing in the 1990s. The electronic version wasn’t very good yet, but there were all sorts of things one could do with photographic prints. The catch was that the negative was still the same, unlike today’s digital images that can be completely changed at will.
That kid…. can run for president for sure.
If Calvin were in politics today, he’d spin the mess to show how “human and accesible” he is. Just normal folks, ya know?
Thanks Calvin, I learn much from you.

“No, people were doing this kind of thing in the 1990s.”
And the 1930’s. Photos of FDR were staged and cropped to conceal the fact that he could not stand up. Stalin far outdid this – when associates were purged (that is, murdered via kangaroo courts), they were even “disappeared” from group photographs.
people still use cameras and film? i thought everything was digital and on smartphones and tablets. which is more annoying at events(sporting, music, etc…) people who hold up their phones or their tablets?
Alright, Calvin’s probably gone too far…
Bill Clinton must have been following this strip.
We get the picture!
The average picture is worth a thousand words. However, Calvin’s pictures are…….worth less.
Image manipulation is as old as photography itself. Dark room magic has always been part of the “seeing is believing” culture in the USA. I believe that is why Missouri has the reputation of the “Show me State”. Show me in the flesh!!
Don’t put on the tie, kid! It’s a noose disguised as a stripy strap of harmless fabric. Besides, who wears ties with a t-shirt and running shorts, anyway?
Why bring politics into comments about comic strips??
MAD Magazine back in the 70s, in anticipation of video phones, came up with a series of roll down back drops—“No dear, see? I’m still at the office. The noise? No, no party. Must be the radio….”
Yes! Calvin now works for Newsweek.
look tidy Boy ah ah ahaa
I love editing Photos…. I just do it when I am bored.
Calvin would certainly look a picture.
I recently saw an old episode of “Bonanza” in which the villian had himself imaged into a group photograph to give himself an alibi.Hobbes’ question is interesting – “Is this even legal?”
I am 100% sure he migth become a lawyer or a diplomat, spining every fact to his adventage
“Believe nothing you hear, and only one half that you see.” – Edgar Allen Poe
People think the same thing about television….
David Axelrod is a disciple Calvin – look how successful he’s been convincing people that Obama is normal, rather than the narcissist he is!
On the other hand, maintaining appearances has been around since classical times . . .
Looks like something just ’’clicked’’ with Calvin. Can"t wait to see what happens next. Hope its nothing negative.
I recall the news team sent to cover the “big” demonstration on campus back in the 1960’s. “OK everybody, squeeze together so it looks like a densely packed ‘crowd.’”
Just wait until Calvin learns to use Photoshop!
Crafty little devil for his age.
Doesn’t Calvin hate having his hair combed?
I think he is running for US Cong.
Calvin in a tie?
Hello again everyone! It feels great to be back! :D
