    “Moe the lumber”

Calvin’s insults in the first panel reminds me of Captain Haddock’s swear words. Nice going Hobbes.

flammable_feline says: “I just adore Calvin’s facial expressions…they’re superb! ” It is remarkable given that the drawing is so sketchy, he still conveys so much in just a few lines. But if you look at the Spaceman Spiff and other drawings, you see that he does detail very well, too. Remarkable talent.

I’m surprised Hobbes hasn’t learned better insults than “Bub” after all the time he’s spent with the master. Ahh..the joy of besting a bully.

    Yaaaay!!–The good guys win!

Good thing for Calvin that Moe has more stuffing between his ears than his stuffed tiger does.

Calvin called Moe a brainless invertebrated. By thinking Calvin was playing a trick on him and then running off because of it, he proved that he was brainless and had no backbone. Calvin called it!

In my experience, at least 90-95% of bullies are cowards.

This is typical Watterson genius. Bill is impeccable in seeing and capturing the human psychy that we carry from early on into adulthood. The ‘face’ that Calvin fronts is what often carries use through our adult challenges. If you believe in yourself, this inspires others to work together in the same efforts. Your comment?
