What will they think of next. Not metal, but a smell detector that can detect even the faintest hint of popcorn.

Their prices are ridiculous because they’re run by rough, tough CPA’s…

When I was a kid, in ‘55, we’d sneak a box of Sugar Pops into the Saturday Matinee.

If you live in cold country you can always sneak a can or two of soda in via the pockets of your parka.

Theaters know you are a captive audience.

You just can’t beat freshly popped theater popcorn!!! But not too fresh; It’s soggy when it first comes out of the kettle.

I don’t own a car so I go everywhere by bus, including the rare occasion when I go to the movies. Since I ride the bus so often I use a shoulder/book bag to carry everything I might need while I’m out of the house, including the book I’m reading, my lunch, and any items I may have may have picked up from shopping. One time I went to the movies after buying some DVDs and when I went into the theater security told me that I couldnt’t take my bag in with me. I offered to let them search the bag and even keep it secure behind the counter but they insisted that I had to take it back out to my car, the security guard was stunned when I pointed out that I didn’t have a car and had arrived by bus. After searching my bag to their satisfaction they finally relented and let me go in with my bag.

when I go to the Imax -I buy a large popcorn. On the way out they fill it again for free. I also take in my own soda.

I remember reasonably priced popcorn at the cinema, back when I went often, 50 or more years ago. Now, I haven’t been to a cinema in I can’t remember how long. Can view enough stuff, if I have the urge, via computer….

Kind of ironic that the more competition the theaters get the more expensive they become — can you say “broken economic model?”
