The economy is huge, complex, behaves without any rational plan and defies our best efforts to understand or manipulate it. We do have some thumb-rules, but they don’t always work and sometimes have effect reverse to what we’ve seen before. So I have a GREAT IDEA !

Let’s DO something useful about inflation. Right now. After all, what could possibly go wrong!

The numbers are way too low for California. Gas is easily over $5/gal. Mortgages (and rents) are easily $4k/month.

Economic Growth — or Economic Bloat?

Ironically, not enough gas rather than excess.

Depressingly so true b/c there’s not much we can do, short of a French style revolution, since Americans wont allow B. Sanders or E. Warren do it for us. The game has been rigged by and for the very rich elite for too long. They’re determined, organized and protected- starting with tax laws. There’s no way they’ll let any significant change happen, despite their hypocritical promises. Profit “UBER ALLES”.

Poll Shows Majority of US Voters Blame Corporate Profiteering for Inflation (commondreams.org)

Funny how corporations always use inflation as an excuse to raise prices but never to raise wages.

Adam Smith, Wealth of Nations (1776):

Our merchants and masters complain much of the bad effects of high wages in raising the price and lessening the sale of goods. They say nothing concerning the bad effects of high profits. They are silent with regard to the pernicious effects of their own gains. They complain only of those of other people.

Great idea, have bankruptcy lawyer offices in the hospital. Kill two patients with one stone.

Profiteering during a war is generally frowned on.. except, evidently.. when it comes to the price of oil and its refined products. It cost no more to make today than it did 3 months ago. HUGE profits to the oil industry (and the governments share). Our Jason Kenney (Alberta premier) is absolutely ecstatic over the current situation and can’t wait to start paving our streets with gold.

Actually, I can agree with the concepts of panels 4. 5, and 6. A college degree is not mandatory. There are jobs out there, good paying jobs with a long term future, that can be learned on the job like apprenticeships or certificate programs at a tech school. And, potential parents need to consider the long term costs before deciding to parent. Just wanting to be a mother or father is not enough. And, finally, the rising costs of gasoline could lead even more people to opt for an EV and saving so much on fuel, oil and maintenance. Plus, the EV is a great ride.
