Whoever assigned that task to Brewster, please step into this room coincidentally called Airlock.

This presentation was much more interesting than the one assigned.

The way to decide whether to use a pie chart is to remember it’s never time to use a pie chart.

And yet, that isn’t as bad as some of the presentations I’ve sat through, or as bad as some of the charts and graphs I’ve seen.

What he needs to do is create a Venn Diagram to see the benefits to each chart. I could provide a flow chart on how to do so.

I used to have an engineer who had no idea how to generate graphs on a computer and he delegated it to me. I was happy to play around with them. Like learning new stuff.

I would have expected this from Marshal on ‘How I Met Your Mother’.

So now we know graphs and chart aren’t the appropriate medium for discussing how to not get distracted.

Actually, that could have been a very novel way to illustrate the point. Maybe Brewster isn’t as dumb as he looks.

One of my favorite images is of the guy from How I Met Your Mother showing a bar graph of his favorite pies, and a pie chart of his favorite bars

A scatter plot is best used when none of the test results really come close to the desired outcome. You can draw the line anywhere in the cluster and claim it is the average of the tests.

These kinds of presentations are easier if you remember that 90% of all statistics are made up 50% of the time.
