Beatrix! How did you get out again? Haven’t you learned your lesson about that? Remember, the only tree you should be climbing is inside – and I mean a cat tree, not your Woman’s Christmas tree.

Awww this is so darling! “The one as smol as me?” Beatrix is super adorable with that little London accent. :)

I love every last little detail! The table top tree on the anchor desk looks very much like the ceramic one my mom made. That final panel is everything! We even get to see Pucky toe beans. Too bad Beatrix couldn’t snuggle in with them, but I’m sure she and Trevor will find a Vegas fir to snuggle up under. (Did I just end a sentence with two prepositions!)

BoCH!! AND an impossibly tiny box! It’s a great day here in BCNland.

Jubilation ensues and Elvis Scrooge , awakened from dreams of 3ghosts, has not missed it. I hope he tips the little girl for having brought him his tiny box!

This is gorgeous, but I had always understood that napping season was 1 January to 31 December between the hours of 5am and 1am daily, the remaining four hours being reserved for zooming.

Countdown to a tree catastrophe commences…

A Christmas Carol is my all time favorite. I have a very old copy (early 20th century) that I picked up in a shop in Woodstock, NY that has wonderful illustrations.

I wonder if this strip will go up on the Etsy shop, maybe for a fund raiser?

My Christmas tree is hollow underneath, the presents in a ring around the outside edge of the skirt, for this very reason. Makes a nice hidey hole under the tree, and makes it look like we have tons of presents!

At very first glance at today’s strip, while partially asleep, I thought the small tree glittering at the news desk was lupin from yesterday. Then I saw him beside himself.

When I was a kid the cat would have to dodge the train under the tree. If you wanted to see a cat jump to the ceiling just turn the train on at the right time

Did every one get the Christmas Carol reference?

Mmm think I’ll go take a nap with my two kitties.

And of course Lupin is napping IN the tree!

Puck do you mean that your seasonal napping spot has returned? Because the whole apartment must be loaded with napping spots, right?

Could I ask for a few prayers? My problem is trivial compared to many others, but I’m in day two of terrible vertigo without understanding why I have it. It’s messing up everything. Feeding the cats is next to impossible since I have to bend down, but they won’t take food from my husband. Thank you!

What a lovely Christmas scene !!!

Trouble used to make a beeline under the tree after it was fully decorated to start her napping season. She never bothered the tree itself, but if mom forgot to leave a space for her when placing presents, she’d find the box with the most elaborate bow mom had made and sleep on it. Mom got trained quickly.

There must be some significance to the tiny box? I am surprised no one has talked about it. It’s Gaudete Sunday: Rejoice!

I like the reference to “A Christmas Carol”. Very nicely done!

Today is:

Worldwide Candle Lighting Day: Light a candle at 7:00 pm local time in remembrance of those who died young, especially if there was someone you knew. If you cannot light a candle, pause a moment to think a warm thought of them.

National Day of the Horse: Do not neigh say it. The relationship between humans and horses is an ancient and honorable one, rivaling that of canines and humans. For herd animals, horses can be surprisingly individualistic. Humans could learn something from this, neigh? (Think Japanese.)

National Violin Day: Yes, you should fiddle with this. The violin is said to have a the closest sound to the human voice of any musical instrument. Maybe that’s why I find them so annoying at times. Violins, however, can express the full range of human emotions, though it is not polite to fiddle with others’ emotions. There are even violent violins, as anyone who has heard a Paganini piece can attest.

World Choral Day: Does anyone hear voices? It’s only the horses and violins giving a rendition of “Das Lied von der Erde.” Hey! Who invited the Shoutmunks! Well, that’s okay: “All God’s Children Got a Place in the Choir.”

Ice Cream Day: Yes, again! After all that singing, it will soothe your throat, if not your ears … “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream,” and now our throats really need soothing. No help for the ears, though …

National Cocoa Day: Now that you are chilled from all that ice cream, have some hot cocoa. If you are really cold, make it the way the ancient Mayans and Aztecs did. Even chili peppers are good with chocolate, and there is a modern equivalent: This year, Andersons Chocolate Shop in Richmond, IL, made Chocolate Habenero Creams, and we got a box. They will definitely warm your ears from the inside out.

Old-style Christmas tree lights gave off enough heat to make the tree area cozy for cats. LED lights – meh. There was also a traditional cotton batting that went around the base of the tree. It was soft for snoozing, if you remembered not to shred it with your claws.

Goldie’s first napping season. I’m remembering she didn’t get out of quarintine until Christmas Day last year. Maybe I’m remembering that wrong.

But Elvis does not fit Scrooge. He may be many things, but he’s certainly not a Scrooge.
