Cat bless us, everyone.
Beatrix! How did you get out again? Haven’t you learned your lesson about that? Remember, the only tree you should be climbing is inside – and I mean a cat tree, not your Woman’s Christmas tree.
Happy felines to all and to all a good nap.
Awww this is so darling! “The one as smol as me?” Beatrix is super adorable with that little London accent. :)
I love every last little detail! The table top tree on the anchor desk looks very much like the ceramic one my mom made. That final panel is everything! We even get to see Pucky toe beans. Too bad Beatrix couldn’t snuggle in with them, but I’m sure she and Trevor will find a Vegas fir to snuggle up under. (Did I just end a sentence with two prepositions!)
BoCH!! AND an impossibly tiny box! It’s a great day here in BCNland.
Jubilation ensues and Elvis Scrooge , awakened from dreams of 3ghosts, has not missed it. I hope he tips the little girl for having brought him his tiny box!
God bless us every one.
SUNDAY FUNDAY TIME!
It must be napping, not sleeping, since they aren’t in their jammies
This should be Goldie’s First Christmas with Loving Humans! Would love to see things from her perspective!
That last panel is precious. =’3
Right. Those stupid little snowmen are down. And that elf thing. Maybe the slaves will get the hint.
This is gorgeous, but I had always understood that napping season was 1 January to 31 December between the hours of 5am and 1am daily, the remaining four hours being reserved for zooming.
And Cat bless us, everyone!
Pucky with Buzzy Mouse, Goldie safe with her forever family, Lupin nestled in The Xmas tree and Elvis in a tiny box! So much joy!
happy napping season everyone
’Tis the season to catnap. ’Tis the season to hibearnate.
Two panels of Pucky toe beans!
With what magic does Lupin get his candy cane to stand upright in his mug?
Has Lupin been de-sparkled now?
Traditional: Still, Still Still
Still, still, still
Underneath the Vegas Tree
Four napping kitties are quietly sleeping
Elvis in his tiny box is dreaming
Underneath the Vegas Tree.
Dream, dream, dream
Of the meals of ham to come
Puck and Buzzy sleep by the presents
Goldie dreaming of mysterious events
If the meals of ham to come!
Pounce, pounce, pounce,
Lupin is ready at any time
Though sleeping deeply
At any moment
He can awaken
And trouble foment
Lupin is ready at anytime!
Felines Navidad, everyone!
Isn’t napping season every season? And is that a reference to A Christmas Carol I see?
I need that last panel framed!
Aww. Even Buzzy Mouse has his eyes closed. And that Elvis ear-to-ear grin!
Countdown to a tree catastrophe commences…
A Christmas Carol is my all time favorite. I have a very old copy (early 20th century) that I picked up in a shop in Woodstock, NY that has wonderful illustrations.
I wonder if this strip will go up on the Etsy shop, maybe for a fund raiser?
Pucky’s Purrfect Christmas Tip #1 – Be sure to remove the ornaments tonight so the People can decorate the Vegas fir tree all over again tomorrow!
I LOVE the Christmas Carol reference with Elvis. Georgia – maybe next year you could have BCN Christmas Carol staring Elvis, and all the cats from Radio Cat Oracle as the Spirits! By the way, Pucky would absolutely make a fantastic Bob ’Cat’chit
Cat bless us every one!
Oh, glitter’s gone!
Georgia, you’ve outdone yourself today!
My Christmas tree is hollow underneath, the presents in a ring around the outside edge of the skirt, for this very reason. Makes a nice hidey hole under the tree, and makes it look like we have tons of presents!
“Smol” is spelled the right way!!!
Haul out the blankies
Under the tree before 3 spirits call again
Curl up in a smol box
No more rushing ’round the decked halls – ahem
For we need a little snore-fest
Right this very minute
Frost will etch the windows
Our dreams’ll be really vivid
Yes, we need a little snooze-fest
Haven’t slept a single second, for at least an hour, we reckon
Invite in little Bea
Turn down the brightest string of lights we’ve ever seen
Share the best-est spots
It’s time to hang our “do not disturb” sign
For we’ve grown a little sleepy
Day’s a little older
Feel a little gladder
Snuggle a little closer
And we’ll have a little catnap
Weather’s getting colder
Need a little drowsing now
For we had enough music
Heard enough laughter
Had it with the singing, ringing through the rafter
Now we need a little downtime
Nappin’ ever after
Need some little snoozies now
(Jerry Herman – We Need a Little Christmas)
Someone please explain smol.
At very first glance at today’s strip, while partially asleep, I thought the small tree glittering at the news desk was lupin from yesterday. Then I saw him beside himself.
When I was a kid the cat would have to dodge the train under the tree. If you wanted to see a cat jump to the ceiling just turn the train on at the right time
Did every one get the Christmas Carol reference?
Mmm think I’ll go take a nap with my two kitties.
And of course Lupin is napping IN the tree!
Puck do you mean that your seasonal napping spot has returned? Because the whole apartment must be loaded with napping spots, right?
Awwww. Even Buzzy Mouse gets in on the napping (in)action!
Could I ask for a few prayers? My problem is trivial compared to many others, but I’m in day two of terrible vertigo without understanding why I have it. It’s messing up everything. Feeding the cats is next to impossible since I have to bend down, but they won’t take food from my husband. Thank you!
Art imitates life.
I love the final panel. even Lupin in the branches.
What a lovely Christmas scene !!!
Trouble used to make a beeline under the tree after it was fully decorated to start her napping season. She never bothered the tree itself, but if mom forgot to leave a space for her when placing presents, she’d find the box with the most elaborate bow mom had made and sleep on it. Mom got trained quickly.
There must be some significance to the tiny box? I am surprised no one has talked about it. It’s Gaudete Sunday: Rejoice!
I like the reference to “A Christmas Carol”. Very nicely done!
Just charming, especially Elvis.
Worldwide Candle Lighting Day: Light a candle at 7:00 pm local time in remembrance of those who died young, especially if there was someone you knew. If you cannot light a candle, pause a moment to think a warm thought of them.
National Day of the Horse: Do not neigh say it. The relationship between humans and horses is an ancient and honorable one, rivaling that of canines and humans. For herd animals, horses can be surprisingly individualistic. Humans could learn something from this, neigh? (Think Japanese.)
National Violin Day: Yes, you should fiddle with this. The violin is said to have a the closest sound to the human voice of any musical instrument. Maybe that’s why I find them so annoying at times. Violins, however, can express the full range of human emotions, though it is not polite to fiddle with others’ emotions. There are even violent violins, as anyone who has heard a Paganini piece can attest.
World Choral Day: Does anyone hear voices? It’s only the horses and violins giving a rendition of “Das Lied von der Erde.” Hey! Who invited the Shoutmunks! Well, that’s okay: “All God’s Children Got a Place in the Choir.”
Ice Cream Day: Yes, again! After all that singing, it will soothe your throat, if not your ears … “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream,” and now our throats really need soothing. No help for the ears, though …
National Cocoa Day: Now that you are chilled from all that ice cream, have some hot cocoa. If you are really cold, make it the way the ancient Mayans and Aztecs did. Even chili peppers are good with chocolate, and there is a modern equivalent: This year, Andersons Chocolate Shop in Richmond, IL, made Chocolate Habenero Creams, and we got a box. They will definitely warm your ears from the inside out.
Old-style Christmas tree lights gave off enough heat to make the tree area cozy for cats. LED lights – meh. There was also a traditional cotton batting that went around the base of the tree. It was soft for snoozing, if you remembered not to shred it with your claws.
Cute! Are the mice napping in the tree?
God bless us, every one! Tiny Tim
Goldie’s first napping season. I’m remembering she didn’t get out of quarintine until Christmas Day last year. Maybe I’m remembering that wrong.
But Elvis does not fit Scrooge. He may be many things, but he’s certainly not a Scrooge.
Puck bless us, everyone!!
Elbiff, that is no way to speak to Bea.
From my family to yours Happy Holidays (and I love the Dickens Reference).
“God bless us, every one!”
Love Bea’s accent and her hat is just too adorable
Hooray for napping season!
Love puck with his Buzzy Mouse. Our Orange Girl, Suzie, does the same with her stick-mouse, after she yells at it and drags it through the house at 11PM.
This is totally what our cats do!
That was our cats over the years. They all loved the tree skirt. Never climbed the trees though
Ooh! He has a present for the others hidden in the backyard?
Awwww! New favorite! Napping kitties*squeeeee*
…I now want a special where Elvis is visited by the Ghosts of Napping Season Past, Present & Future. Preceded by Tilly’s warning, of course.
