There’s the scarf! And Beatrix as Thirteen, AAAAAAAHHH!, that makes me very happy. Made my entire day and it’s just past midnight.
Squee! Love Elvis’ scarf! And of course Beatrix loves Thirteen! I especially love the “different denominations of Whovians” bit. It’s very true (goes to nurture my love for Three and Seven in a corner . . . )
Elvis’ smile is pure sunshine in the last panel! Melts my heart. ❤
Personally, I’m more of a Whatian (and I’m not sure Where I am).
p.s.- cats look at a box and think, “Tardis, I can fit all nine of my lives in there.”
Goldie is very open minded about this, not all Whovians are.
The cardboard box only looks impossibly small…
Elvis is my kind of Whovian, scarf and all! I’ve not looked in on it, but there is a Dr. Who channel on Pluto TV.
I didn’t get a chance to post this on yesterday’s discussion of SF films. In my opinion, nothing matches the magnificence of “Fire Maidens of Outer Space”.
Here is a version, annoyingly stretched sideways (why do they do that?) and with additional commentary. It at least gives a taste of this true classic.
Tum te tum, tum te tum, tum te tum… Oop, hello there Cat fans. And that leaves Lupin. Probably the Suave, debonair, dandy adventurer that was Jon Pertwee’s 3rd Doctor.
As everyone is posting their favorite Doctor Who… I am a fan of the one consistent companion of the Doctor. The one who stole the Doctor and ran away to have adventures! The TARDIS! (Grin!)
And just yesterday I was thinking that we need that scarf, the kitties would LOVE it. Or at least most of our family kitties have loved scarves and treating them as just more condensed yarn.
Gotta love Puck as Gandalf (the White????)!
Thank you, Georgia, you gave Jason and me much needed smiles :)
Have some questions for the Orb please. Have watched (in the past on PBS) episodes of Dr Who – especially the third doctor (Jon Pertwee); fourth doctor (Tom Baker – yes I like him especially) and the fifth doctor (Peter Davison). Then the local station dropped Dr Who so I missed out on all the rest. Any suggestions on websites to read up on the other doctors (before and since then?). And not sure what some have been calling the different denominations of Whovian – unless you all mean you have fave Doctor Who incarnations? I am feeling a tad lost today. Thanks! 8)
Because you know I’m all about that space
’Bout that space, no tribbles
I’m all about wars in stars
’Bout wars in stars, no tribbles
I’m all about my space
’Bout my space, no tribbles
I’m all about deep space
’Bout deep space… deep space… deep space… deep space
Yeah, it’s pretty clear, I ain’t no trekkie, boo
But I can make me look like leia, as I’m supposed to do
’Cause I love that luke, darth and all the boys in space, yes
And I know my cats will not be seen wearin’ no star trek face
I think that trekkie stuff is all photoshop-ed
We know that #@!& ain’t real, come on now, make it stop
If you got a baby yoda just raise him up
’Cause every inch of him is perfect from the bottom to the top
Because you know I’m all about deep space
’Bout deep space, no tribbles
’Bout deep space… Hey!
Yeah yeah… ohh… You know you like deep space… Hey…

YAY WHOVIAN KITTIES! \o/ Pertwee and Tom Baker (3rd and 4th respectively) are my favorites among the classical Doctors. Among the newer generation of Doctors, 12 (Peter Capaldi) has been my favorite so far. 13 is doing an impressive job so far.
I think David Tennant made it huge in the US. I remember when only a few geeks in America even know what Dr. Who was. And then it was suddenly everywhere.
Georgia, you’ve elevated this strip to a whole new level!
I am LOVING this week!
Is anyone there a Potterhead?
I grew up on Tom Baker and followed it up with Peter Davidson. Really liked both. I kinda missed out on most of the rest catching an episode here or there. I really enjoyed Christopher Eccleston when he appeared, and David Tennant is my favorite of the new ones.
Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Beatrixia: Great visiting with you, Trevor-Hotep. See you at the wedding.
Trevor-Hotep: Are you going straight to afar?
Beatrixia: First we have to stop at the oasis. The spiders have been making Spider Treats after the locust plague.
Trevor-Hotep: How do they know when the locusts are going to strike?
Beatrixia: Alice-Ata and the girls got a hold of their schedule. Don’t ask me how.
A large blue box appears
Trevor-Hotep: Hey, Doc! Need a Space-Time Anemone?
Doc: Yep, best way to time travel.
Maat-Tilda: Say, Doc, isn’t that the scarf I knitted for you?
Doc: That’s right. Wouldn’t go anywhere in the universe without it.
Beatrixia: I know Elvis-Anum loves his.
Beatrix looks so adorable and enthusiastic.
Tom Baker Whovian
Hands down, I have to say my favourite doctor was Tom Baker. Elvis looks so happy today, and Beatrix is rocking Doctor XIII.
Jason and I want to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts for all the kind words, purrs, boops and hugs.. We paid for Pepper’s cremation today, he should be home next week. We’re going to print out a couple of our favourite photos of him. They’ll be on each side of the urn, one with the little piece of paper with his front paw and nose prints that was included in a lovely card from our vet today sniffle They also enclosed a packet of beautiful flower seeds, which I’ll plant once I have my greenhouse..
We miss him so much, and the other pets do as well. Mum’s Sheba has been staying in our room, tonight Jason thought she might want the “Fishy Show” we used to leave on for Pep. It’s 4k videos on YouTube of aquariums, some with natural sound, some with music. He loved it. And yep, she’s so content that when I came in after dinner, she rolled over for belly rubs! That is rare with her :)
“I don’t need no Doctor.” – Armstead, Ashford & Simpson. c. 1966
I am totally clueless about Dr. Who. The only doctor I associate with a Who is Dr. Seuss.
Since Elvis and Goldie are both Whovians, maybe that will help them to be better friends now. Love all of Elvis’s smiles.
Wonderful! Just hope they don’t have to face an invasion of Daleks and Cybercats!
Aw, even though he’s graduated from pirate ballerina, Elvis loves dressing up!
Whovians are not to be confused with Whovers. Especially in Britain.
OT: Four weeks ago today I went to the shelter and was adopted by Katie, my avatar. She rules and we love her. Her personality is coming out daily as she gains confidence in Hubby and me. She watches me and studies my eyes and follows me wherever I go. If I sit down she is on my lap. Our routine is to give her the Greenies treats in the morning and comb her hair [she long-haired] and treats at night. She learned not to scratch the furniture quickly and to use her pole instead. She climbs and naps on it daily. And she is full of beans when she runs around and takes the corner on a skid. She appears to be happy.
Good morning everyone, what is a whovian?
I’ve watched almost every sci-fi series from Lost in Space to the Mandalorian, but I’ve never seen a single episode of Dr.Who. Somehow it passed me by.
Yay! Some Thirteenth Doctor love! :D
I mean, Four and Eleven are absolutely great doctors too, but they’re also the obvious one, the ones you expect people to point to when talking about Doctor Who, so it’s nice to see some of the other incarnations of the Doctor get some love too. :)
Mildly off-topic: Georgia, if you’re reading the comments today, I wanted to say thank you for introducing me to the Alley Cats and Angels catnip kickers on Etsy. My two really like them (and Raven generally isn’t interested in catnip toys) and my mom’s Siamese twins go absolutely flipping crazy for them. Always great to have fresh entertainment for the indoor cats (and it’s hilarious).
And do “Whovians” live in Whoville, love Christmas, eat Roast Beast, and try to not anger The Grinch?
Oops, wrong “Who’s” I guess. :-)
As The Doctor always said (or at least should have), “Be Who you like.”
OT: Crazier and crazier, said Alice…
I’m proud to be a Whovian.
Sorry I have never seen a complete episode of Dr. Who. Tried to get into it but just couldn’t. I love Star Trek (all variations. Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica is ok, and who can forget Lost in Space. Loved watching that program as a small child. I’ve always dreamed of being a space traveler…maybe in my next life.
Dr. Who’s last regeneration was into a woman.
9th and 10th denomination for me—David Tennant furever ::swoon::
Today is World UFO Day. I’m assuming that stands for Unidentified Flying Object, and not something more sensible like Undercooked Frying Object (breakfast, lunch, or dinner), Unadopted Feline Object (feral in need of rescue), Unfed Feline Overlord (Well feed me, dang it!), Under-developed Feline Overlord (kitten), Unmitigated Feline Opera (Siamese singing), Unfulfilled Feline Obligations (clean the catbox, dangit!), or something else with the same acronym (your own suggestions welcome).
The key word in “UFO” is “unidentified.” This could mean anything that is (A) in the air with no visible means of support, and (B) you are unable to make out just what it is. Could be anything: a bird, a plane, Superman, or a cosmic brickbat. So yes, I believe UFOs exist. Further, I believe they are partial proof that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe, because there has been no verifiable contact yet, at least of our species. Can’t say about bottlenosed dolphins or whales. If they’ve been contacted, they have the sense to keep quiet about it. I certainly wouldn’t tell us.
Bowties are Cool!
Puck would be very good at Gandalf, he is kind and nice, and he can commune with the dead apparently. (Gandalf died and was reborn so i guess that he could see the dead, either way what with Aragon and the path of the dead that is a pretty solid lord of the rings thing.) (I’m rambling, that happens a lot.)
I thought Who plays first base for the Cincinnati Reds, What is on second, and Wherethehell is third base …
Yes, I’m an Unbeliever For Once.
Love the Who spinoff Torchwood!
The Who (Who Else?) Who Are You?
Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?
I wear my scarf wrapped all around
Dressed in the classic way
I felt a little like a Cat Time Lord
With a streak of Obi Wan, too
I stretched back and I napped
And looked back on my busy day
Eleven hours for a quick cat nap
Wouldn’t have any other way
Meow, meow, meow, meow!
I woke up in a Tardis room
In my bow tie and my fez
Time to go and eat and play and nap
That’s what The Doctor sez,
I stretched and meowed and quickly groomed
Feeling fresh with my groomed fur
I remember three times turning around
And napping with a purr!
Oh, tell me who are you (Who are you? Who, who, who, mew?)
I really wanna know
Oh, I really wanna know
Come on tell me, who are you, you, you, you?
I see those who guessed Firefly for Bea may be wrong. Still depends on if Bea is like the woman and takes to multiple fandoms.
Hey, these guys all have built-in Spock ears! Shouldn’t at least one of them be a Trekker? And where’s Lupine?
I got into Doctor Who with 11, but when I went back in time, I fell for Doctor #9. People speak highly of 5 and 10, but 9 and 11 are my favorites.
Normally I would say I could not love this more, but that would be underestimating Georgia!
I really, REALLY want to build a Dalek costume that I can use with my electric wheelchair. I’ve been working on ideas for it for a few years now. It’ll come together eventually.
The classical Whovian scarf goes well with Elvis’s coloring.
Hopefully Lupin is a Browncoat! (Firefly fan)
Beam me up, there’s no intelligent life down here. Allons-y!!
O.T. Smart TV weirdness
Oh, how adorable! So many Whovians! And Beatrix loves the current Dr. Who, also my favorite! Do they all have sonic screwdrivers? (And tbh, I stand more with The Man in this—Star Trek is my life.)
I find that naming my “favorite” Doctor is very difficult because I come to love them all. I first saw the show with the 4th Doctor, but then watching the old shows I was enchanted by the 1st and 2nd and 3rd…and so it has gone. I love what Jodie Whittaker has done with the character. I loved what Peter Capaldi did with the character (“Try to be nice but never fail to be kind.”) I was uncertain about Matt Smith when he first started but he quickly won me over.
Bottom line: I just love the character of The Doctor—Whoever he or she may be.
One of the best parts of Day of the Doctor was Tom Baker in the museum at the end.
Tom Baker was my first Dr.
Love everything about this strip!!!
Surprised that Elvis isn’t dressed like the more dignified Third Doctor. I’ll confess to being a bit prejudiced in his favor though since he was the first Doctor I encountered
Never got into Dr. Who. Saw it one or twice and it just seemed weird and made no sense. I will leave Dr. Who to the fans, not for me.
I like four and eleven.
