I think I’d wait to take my bath until after I’ve finished house cleaning;)
Ah, the joys of a Velcro cat in full cling…
Oh, and there’s the new bath mat from Sunday! Kudos, Georgia, for continuity!
Elvis, just wait! The baby will wake up soon, and you can proceed to watch over her!
It’s the Mans’ chance to make friends with him!
SPOILER ZONE ;-)
C’mon Woman, Elvis needs you! You will stop and give him your undivided attention. ❤️ I sure miss having a needy kitty . . . I would drop everything to shower her with love and attention.
Please don’t keep him waiting too long, Woman.
You hungry, Elvis? Or just hungry for attention?
Isn’t this where the meme would say, “You had one job…”
Is Invisible Lupin somewhere in among the bubbles today?
She’s just going four steps across the room, Elvis but go ahead, tag along.
Careful of that ankle reinforcement, Elvis. Needy ankle reinforcement has been known to trip clumsy humans.
Of course then, as she lies on the floor, the Woman would have nothing better to do than pay attention to you …
That’s how I know if one of the little 16 yr old men-kitties is sick….
I love the way Elvis hooks his tail around the Woman’s leg. A small gesture that has infinite meaning…
Actually, I think it is rather sweet that Elvis needs The Woman because of Beatrix’s departure. And I am sure she is a good cat mom and will give him the attention he needs right now.
Of course, the CAT is the one who decides which way the attention goes, and when…
Yum Yum is like that when we come back from a trip. As a matter of fact, she’s like that with Paul whenever he goes out of the house, and poor Paul finds it no end of aggravating. Then, as soon as he sits down, she commandeers his lap, and the poor guy can’t even read the paper, because she will rearrange herself to cover the section he is trying to read, curl up, close her eyes, and purr like a small outboard motor.
Elvis: Are you lonesome tonight …?
Hey guys! I need your help. I have an 11 year old female that is my special kitty. Alice has health problems and could not be spayed when she was a kitten. About 3 years ago she stopped going into heat. (HUZZAH!!!) But, she recently has gone into the heat form hell. If she is not in my lap or touching me she begins this caterwauling that would wake the dead. It is so bad the feral cats run. Vet has no idea why this is happening. Anyone else that has gone thru this PLEASE give me some advice!!! 2 weeks and counting – no sleep, can’t clean house, can’t have anyone over, dog is now neurotic. HELP!!!
Poor, sweet Elvis, missing Beatrice. Love his little paws in the last panel. Can’t understand why The Woman doesn’t just melt at the sight.
I posted late yesterday, so I’m reposting:
“Late to the party today…want to say THANK YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH for all your loving words & support RE yesterday’s post.
“I went to see both my sick sisters-from-other-misters yesterday. The older woman & her daughter have made the heartbreaking decision not to pursue treatment because she’s so weak. Now comes the task of finding hospice placement in a nursing home.
“My young friend’s roommate & I saw her & her mom in the ICU. Physically she’s holding her own, doing some of her own breathing in addition to the ventilator. Her lungs are in good shape so they didn’t have to do ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation – the “heart-lung machine”), which is great news. She REALLY wants that bleeping hose out of her throat! & keeps making moves as if she’s trying to reach & pull it out, but she’s not ready for that yet.
“The not-so-good news is that her liver & kidneys have been damaged. We don’t know how badly yet. Also, she may have brain damage from lack of oxygen before they got her on the vent.
“A bit more good news: she’s been on every industrial-strength antibiotic in the book, & her temperature has come down to normal.
“She’s somewhat responsive when they dial back the sedative, able to nod & shake her head to yes/no questions, but she gets agitated & indicates that she’s in pain, so they’re keeping the sedation level up.
“Meanwhile, her mom hasn’t left her side & hasn’t slept since Saturday morning.
“So…now we wait…”
Update on last nights post.
I left the back bedroom door open all night. Kiki spent part of the night with me and Sweetheart. In my bed. Sleeping. :)
She had zoomies early in the night a couple of times. Then i felt her hop up on the bed and settle in. Sweetheart pushed up on me on one side, Kiki on the other.
As soon as i started sitting up she zoomed back into “her” room, and started attacking her toys.
I feel nervous with Elvis perched on the edge of the tub.
just saw this on Georgia’s FB: Amazing news, everyone!!! I just got word that “Lupin Leaps In” is going into REPRINT! That means the first edition print of the book has officially sold out! So, your copies just got a little more special ❤️ (First edition copies are still out there in the world, too! They may be on shelves in your local bookstore or even in some online reserves like Amazon! I found out with our first book that this means all the first edition prints have been purchased or are spoken for by folks and stores alike. That means bookstores selling them could have them available now, even as more are printed. Call your local bookstore, if you are looking for one!) I’m so happy the book is going into reprint before the holidays. Let’s hope that the second edition reprints become special too!
Thank you so, so, much for making this possible! ❤️
just saw some amazing pics on Georgia’s instagram, including a sketch of the town, BUZZY Mouse touring DC!!
Off topic, and apologies for talking about poop, but any ideas on a cat that’s always been perfectly litterbox trained who is now (over the past few weeks) pooping in beds. Two different human beds. Two different cat beds. A couple of floor mats. The poop is very solid, but sometimes with a slimey coat. It’s usually full of cat fur and some plant matter, but the cat I’m pretty sure is doing it has always had a lot of cat fur (and some plant matter) in his poop, no matter how much I comb him. Sometimes it is one segment in the litterbox and two in his bed. It doesn’t seem like it would be behavioural in his own bed, and nothing particularly has changed recently that I can think of.
Is that an arugula and cat hair salad?
Speaking of needy cats: we’re hoping to get Mr. Cape n’ Cowl on the first stage of his trip to his forever home, tomorrow. He’s a real sweetie, so we’re pretty sure he’s adoptable—he’s trying to adopt us! Please think positive thoughts about him showing up tomorrow morning.
Most amusingly, my bob-tailed polydactyl is being needy today. Although… I think there may be an ulterior motive. He was hanging upside down in my arms and looking at Lenore with what I believe was a smug look on his face.
Also: the ads are knocking me out of the comment window again. I haven’t missed that at all.
Oh poor Elvis, come & live with me XXXOOOXXX
Hi Orb Folks, I just want to say how glad I am you’re here. I had thought Sunday night I’d be asking for purrs on Monday but instead I’m going to share some good news. My cats are indoor/outdoor. They, especially Rusty, demand it in summer. So Sunday evening I came home and found Rusty curled up near the door and reluctant to get up. When he did, I could see it hurt him to move. But he walked in slowly and went straight to my bed to curl up. It was obvious there had been a fight with another cat which made me angry because Rusty is not aggressive. He’s a neutered, medium sized male and will become submissive if another cat wants a fight. Neighbors have said there’s a strange tom around. I suspect it’s trying to establish territory by beating up all other males. The good news was I didn’t find blood or anything broken. I figure Rusty was badly bruised and roughed up. He didn’t want to move or drink or eat. That really scared me. I decided I’d take him to the vet in the morning if no improvement but I’m delighted to say that Monday morning he wanted to drink a lot of water, eat a little and use the litter box. And he was moving better. This morning he’s back to normal! Even went outside with me when I took out the garbage. The one change is he didn’t want to stay outside without me and he’s now asleep on my bed. I’m delighted he feels that’s his safe place. And I’ll be very happy if this makes him want to live inside like Livy who is an indoor cat by temperament. Anyway, I just wanted to share a story with a happy ending and express gratitude that if I’d needed it, I could have asked for support.
From the ’80s, the group Surface: Shower Me With Your Love
My heart is filled with pain and love
And I need someone I can cling to
To follow the Woman—that’s what I am dreaming of
Nine lives are too short to live alone
Without friends to call my own
I will follow you, you will follow me
I will cling to you like velcro!
Shower me with your love!
Let me sleep on the bath mat I long for!
And I know I will cling to you forever!
Yes, Elvis, People frequently feel nervous. And then we need our cats around us to remind us what’s important and that everything will be OK – as long as we continue to feed the cat on time!
Done that myself. Not conducive to a healthy learning curve. Take care, don’t do it again. Sending healing thoughts your way.
If there’s one thing that Siamese are good at, it’s staring.
. . . Breaking Cat News! :)
Not exactly off topic, but:
Siamese cats are needier than most cats. I saw a lady On YouTube trying to take a shower & her two Siamese babies sat outside the shower door scratching & howling in protest. It was so adorable! Elvis must be a beautiful kitty!
