Never go to a teaching hospital if you have something unusual. At Thomas Jefferson in Philly, what should have been a 24 hour stay (the last 20 for observation), turned into a 72 hour stay while they paraded students, interns, residents, etc, one at a time, in front of me to interrogate me about my symptoms and diagnose me. I never could figure out who my real doctor was.
I know that students need to learn, and I want the next generation of doctors to have the experience they need. But perhaps they could knock something off the bill if you agree to let your regular doctor bring his students in.
The last time my doctor introduced a student nurse I asked if I should play the good patient or the bad one. He just chuckled, but you could tell that she wasn’t sure what to expect.
In the last 10 years, I’ve had a few hospital stays…with a few nurses in training watching and helping this old man…I no longer get embarrassed about certain things…

The last colonoscopy I got the doctor asked if a group of students could observe they were going to knock me out so I figured whats the harm ?
