You had the right idea the first time, Opus.
Sadly, too many politicians are just as mushy and easily swayed as is Opus.
You see, People! That was the problem. If you had elected Opus in ‘88 then we wouldn’t have gotten stuck with the Sound-Alike Legacy candidate that was selected in 2000!!
Or maybe the loser we have now?

Opus did run in 1988, disguised as Michael Dukakis; same size, same nose, same tenuous grasp of reality.
Opus, step away from that Harold Stassen punchbowl. Do not eat the Norman Thomas cookies. Beware of the H.Ross Perot soup, they are all addictive but ultimately malnourishing [except to cartoonists.]
“you stupid moo”?
I’m firmly convinced that one of the first indications that someone isn’t fit to be President, is that they WANT the job in the first place. You’d have to be completely bonkers to put up with the stress, the danger, and the constant criticism of not only yourself, but your family, for less total pay than the money spent campaigning to get elected.
For Barry, it would be: “twenty-twelve”.
Hoomi, Douglas Adams would agree with you on that; in one of his Hitchhiker books, the ruler of the galaxy is revealed to be someone who was chosen for the job because he has no desire to rule, control, or have an opinion on anything.
