Because you’re have nothing else to look forward to.
Let it go and you’ll feel much better.
You’re depressed??? Think how the squirrel feels! Shame!
Chew it over while you’re thinking about it.
Give it a big kiss and let it go.
It’s the chase, not the prize!
So that’s where the Christmas Squirrel in Adam@Home got to!
For most dogs that would now be a dead squirrel chew toy ;-)
“After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting. It is not logical, but is often true.”

Recently, during a walk in the country at night, my dog spotted a possum and took out after it. He caught up with it and bowled it over and it just laid there. He stood sniffing it in confusion and had the same expression: What do I do now? We finally walked away and – sure enough – it was only playing possum!

One of our Border Collies, a joyous, harmless soul, once caught a squirrel he was chasing. He brought the little critter to us and gently laid it down and looked up at us as if to say, “I don’t know what happened! Can you fix??”. There wasn’t a mark on the squirrel; we think he died of fright. That dog neither caught not chased again.
He may have to turn in his Dog card.
Once your life’s ambition is achieved, there is nothing to look forward to.
