Biographic Steve McGarry Ben Stiller Born in New York City on November 30, 1965, Ben Stiller is the son of actors Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, and the brother of actress Amy Stiller. His parents a very successful comedy tem, and Ben and Amy were steeped in showbiz growing up. Anne Meara has continued to act extensively on stage and in TV and movies and teaches acting, while Jerry is a familiar face to fans of "Seinfeld" and "King of Queens." Having performed with New York City's first all Children's Theater Troupe in his teens, Ben later went on to appear in the run of a Broadway play. His writing and performing skills - and the short films he created - landed him a brief stint on "Saturday Night Live" before MTV gave him his own sketch comedy show. Cancelled after a short run, "The Ben Stiller Show" was then picked up by Fox. That show was also short0livved...but it earned Ben and his writing team, which included Judd Apatow, an Emmy Award. Following minor movie roles, he wrote, produced, directed and starred in 1994's "Reality Bites," and then directed Jim Carrey in "The Cable Guy." The huge 1998 hit "There's Something About Mary" teed up a run of hits in the 2000s, including "Meet the Parents," "Zoolander," "Starsky & Hutch," "night at the Museum" and "Tropic Thunder." A number of his movies, including the animated hit "Madagascar," have spawned popular sequels, with more in the pipeline. He married actress Christine Taylor in 2000 and they now have two children together. One of Hollywood's most accomplished and successful auteurs, Ben's latest project sees him produce, direct and star in a remake of the 1947 Danny Kaye Comedy "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,' based on James Thurber's short story.
