Big nate story arc idea: kelly, one of nate’s ex girlfriends is reintroduced. It starts when nate francis and teddy are at the county fair, and school picture guy, who is being a gypsy says that nate will be reunited with an old flame. Later that week, nate francis and teddy are walking down the block when teddy spots kelly and some other dude and asks nate, “Hey isn’t that kelly?”. Nate finally sees her and sees that she’s arguing with the dude. The guy storms off angrily, leaving kelly in tears. Nate walks up to her and comforts her. Anyway, this is actually surprisingly fresh for the comic. Nate’s mooching habits have been brought up before, but not in a sort of way where he has a sort of skill for it similar to prank day or chess. In an age where unoriginality abounds this is really cool to see, so i’ll give it an A for what it’s setting up, which seems like a high score but it’s just such a breath of fresh air tbh.
