i feel like ive never seen francis make the expression he did in the fourth panel
Run Francis! Run!
Good morning, afternoon, evening, and night early readers! Ugh, it had to be Francis with the lucky hit…
Have a fantastic day!
Last panel surprised me
The bat was a paid actor.
surprised Pikachu face
Don’t think, just hit.
If the probability was rare, he got the rare hit!
hey uys, remember me? i was on a reip so i couldn’t comment/read the strip but i’m back. also good one francis
Good job Francis!
Analytic brain strikes again !
BOOYAH! Go Francis!
Nate and me are towards the side going – “Woah !”
Teddy Ortiz is the CEO of replying to comments
The statistician finally stands corrected!
Wow Francis! Now we just need to know if rain will cancel out the round.
I think the copycat dude is gone.
Francis after the home run: The odds that I’m not dreaming is 0.000032%
Nate: Great job Francis we are only down 1 now. You finally stopped thinking about analytics.
Francis: My batting average went from an anemic .212 to a mediocre .215. Now the odds of you hitting a home run on this next bat with a batting average of .003 is exactly…
Nate: (thinking) Oop back on track.
isnt that the exact same thing that happend to nate a few moths ago
Plot twist: it’s not a homer and its caught at the last second.
Way to go Francis!
i honestly did not see that coming…
Your brain is telling you that the probability of getting a hit in this situation is…greater than zero. So why not try?!
There is still a chance, 2%is still a chance!
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not
That what not expected at all
Man this week is gonna by fast
A million to one shot happens nine times out of ten.
I think he was able to make the hit because his brain was thinking about the comment by Nate, so he wasn’t thinking about the ball, so his body just acted. (Watch it get caught though)
As someone who had a few years of baseball as a kid, trust me, these things never turn out this way in reality. If I were Francis in this situation, I’d strike out. Reality.
It must be swing #1,000,000! (Get it – his odds are one in a million?)
Now, will Francis remember that he actually has to run around the bases?
Hero Time for Francis!
Francis! Nice Hit!
In your face, Morale Destructor.
Yep……POW!!! That’s what it’s called, math-boy….now go visit some bases………
Last year has the same baseball arc this week.
THAT WAS AMAZING FRANCIS!!!
The next arc will now be Francis questioning the power of statistics.
this is just like the time nate hit a homer on a slump
Announcer: tomorrow can francis have gotten a home run? or does he get out? like I said we will see tomorrow
“Never tell me the odds.”
— Han Solo, Star Wars
What was the chance? WHAT WAS THE CHANCE!?
The odds are, he was due for a hit
I like this arc
this one reminds me of when nate hit a home run and everyone thought chad could predict the future… but I don’t know what will happen next
What if, thanks to this strip, Francis no longer depends on Analytics. Or anything like that. But sooner or later it turns into a problem. That’s my guess. I’m writing this on August 15th, and haven’t seen the next two.
Did I just -
Should have been at the top earlier but, 200th comment!
hes got a good arm thats bad
Love this arc!!!
how’d he fit the glasses under his helmet?
They said they where down by 2, but he scored a walk-off homer!
That’s why you ignore the stats, Francis.
Lemme guess… the pitcher’s gonna catch the ball, and francis’s glory will be stolen like that.
anyone notice how Francis’ sideburns magically disappeared in the last panel?
