Obviously detention does not work for Nate. My kids would be horrified also if they got detention because they know they would be in big trouble with me.

some schools, and i find this annoying, allow their students to do their homework while in detention

We used to have to write stuff that “der commandant” had written down on the blackboard for us to copy…….something long, like a line from Moby Dick or The Scarlett Letter. Misdemeanor detention: 140 times. Late detention: 70 times. You could leave when you finished it and placed it on der commandant’s desk. Very draconian……you were encouraged to not make a habit of turning up in there.
