I really love Nate Wright’s “comix”, both the idea and the character of the characters. It’s special that we’re allowed to read with the writer in mind in this setup.
re: PuritansThe real problem was that, unfortunately, dancing was forbidden because it was believed to lead to promiscuous behavior. And they believed that life’s pleasures were nothing compared to the pleasures of heaven. (Apparently though, they were allowed to do a lot of things like sports and dancing after they went to church on that day.)
What about the pleasure of sex with their partner?; That was God’s creation so they should feel free to let it make their relationship stronger. (Strong mother-father partnerships were essential in those days to raise a family that could raise the food (and maintain control of their land but I don’t know anything about property holding in Eastern Massachusetts)).
