Cigar boxes were always cool. Kids like me stored our treasures in them.
Not a jack-in-the-box box.
Cigars came with paper rings around them that were fun for a kid to wear. The rings were cool shapes with interesting designs.
I still have a cigar box I keep oddments in. Made from balsa wood is my guess. I remember my parents taking me to the store when I was a kid for me to ask the clerk for a White Owl cigar box to keep school supplies in. There were, and I suppose still are, many brands and boxes available, but I liked the White Owl because of the bird on the front.

I wonder how long she had that box. She certainly didn’t give it to Jr. when it arrived.
