Experience and knowledge is why they made you a manager and pay you the ‘big’ money.

The better you are the less managing you need to do.

Managing good employees who know their jobs is mostly communication

Managing some people is more like hearding cats

I only have to manage 2 other people and that’s only when my manager goes on vacation

5 weeks a year, not too bad

Sometimes being a manager is like being a fertilizer spreader. You take all the manure from up above and spread it as evenly as possible.

“I can manage the management of the managers, but managing the management of the managers’ management can sometimes be hard to manage…” ☺

With this strip – sometimes it is hard to tell what is sarcasm and what is sincere. I’ve been a manager for some time in my career at different levels. When I am talking with people who have never been managers it can be a bit tricky to talk about that work in a way that makes sense, and often they don’t really want to know – they want to just rail at “the man”.

A good manager will work for her/his subordinates as a bulldozer to clear the way for them to do their jobs. Among other things.
