Masking tape……Hardware store, they’ll be back in a few hours. She is doing good ,quilting on her machine. I have problems doing baby quilts. The back slips around and looks bad. I don’t like to finish but I like to piece the top together.Good job Betty.
I guess this is supposed to further the story line along…having the guys go out for more stuff she needs.But as far as practical use it doesn’t work. With her new machine attachments Betty should have gotten a quilt guide. Its an L shaped attachment that fits in a slot behind the presser foot. You sew the first line which has been drawn or taped down then use the L to follow that line, move over and do it again. There are You Tube videos to show what I mean. Sorry I can’t explain it better in writing.
Good masking tape is somewhat reusable, but for the narrative of the story, it moves it along. My husband and son would not go rushing off for supplies like this (not more than once anyway).

Betty’s worked so hard and so quickly on this quilt. I suspect she will be done with the whole hobby after this first quilt.
