I don’t know why people waste perfectly good ink and time writing instructions that nobody will read, or care about.
what is obvious is that if he wants to receive a mail piece that is larger than that little slot, then he should install a larger slot or a larger mail receptacle.the carrier is wrong to fold it, of course. the right option in this case was to leave notice for it to be picked up at the post office
When I last moved, I was 61, and packed the boxes so that they could all be lifted by a human. I also marked each box with room it was assigned to and UP with arrow (placing heavier things on bottom)
The arrows were ignored, and the big burly workers (I’m a 5’ woman) complained about the number of book boxes. Those were premium boxes MADE to hold books, but I packed about 1/2 shoes in each to make them lighter, so there were more. And I DO own a lot of books (even more since my move).
I tend to use UPS and FedX a lot, because mail boxes are a gang at the end of the street and around the corner and many things (vitamins, art materials) are damaged baking in a metal box in full sun @ 120F.
I’d also rather pay to mail when I travel (not much more $, and it won’t get rifled thru, thrown across a room or lost).
That’s why the postman did it.
I think it’s pronounced “Fra-GEE-lay” and is a French word meaning “feel free to destroy it”. ;-)
Around here UPS, Fed Ex, etc. are the problem. USPS puts the items in our mail box or side porch or takes it back and leaves a pickup notice. The others leave it at our front door or in the middle of our driveway without even ringing the doorbell. We live on a 4 lane road across from a bus stop. Very public. They leave the packages in the rain. They leave them the day before a holiday weekend when we might be away, in the rain.
Husband makes, among other things, blank occasion cards that he sells online. All our shipping is USPS. We are always concerned that the cards will not fit into the box when delivered without folding. If we mark them “Do not bend on delivery.” The USPS employees get upset and say that we have to mail it package rate, so we just put on postage and mail it so they do not see it.
