Another reason why I would never buy a pickup truck. Although, for the Cybertruck I would make an exception.

Whatever you do, don’t lone him your truck, help him move. Know someone who bought a new 1 ton dually pickup. Which of course, right away a friend asked to borrow it. Someone unfamiliar with driving a dually pickup. Yup, they tried to go through a drive through at a fast food place and tore up the truck, and didn’t do many favors to fast food place either. They hadn’t even had it for a week.

When I was younger, we had a group of engineers who would help each other when the wanted to move. A case of beer would do the trick.

Have had pickups for lots of years and gotten good use of them. So many small-to-medium jobs that can’t be done with a crossover suv or 5-door mini, whether one lives in the burbs or on several acres in the fringe.

I’m more concerned with the large & lifted small weenie-mobile pick ’em up trucks that sit on your rear bumper at 10 to 15 over the limit for two miles, then finally pass you… And either slow down to waaaayyyy under the limit and or take the exit ramp 0.0003 seconds after they pass you. You know, the type.

Or the ones with the same type of attitude as the person with what they think is a hot car and takes up six or seven parking spots (and at least one of those is a handicapped spot of course) in a crowded lot, and/or leaves more that 30% of the vee-hick-le sticking out one end or the other of the spot when it could very easily fit.

My fave’s are the idjits y’all know who drive a yuuuge truck, never carry more than one bag of groceries or a tackle box (but never both!) in the bed, leave it running for two hours while parked, and stick those idjit “I did this” stickers on the fuel pumps. Sorry Einstein, but there ain’t ever been a president who could raise fuel prices around the entire globe from either party. Y’all have been had and bought those stickers from somebody who has definitely added your name to a suckers list.

Thus began the truck rental business. Maybe if I knew a friend who had a 24 foot box truck that I could pick up in Phoenix and drop off in Albuquerque….

I’ve driven a truck for the last twenty plus years and in that entire time no one has asked me to help them move. I must be unique.

Anyone over 20 with any friends at all learns to fear the phrase, “Will you help me move?” And learns to inquire, “Help you move? That depends – do you own 1) a piano 2) a sofa sleeper bed or 3) a kiln?” All three of those are hernia traps.
