I can remember in grade school gathering around a little black and white TV to watch manned rockets launched into space.

I can remember the days when the United States used to be a space-faring country.

“Sorry Captain Columbus, your funding has been cut. We beat the British to the New World, there is no reason to go back.”

Me thinks he was smoking a little 420 if he thought he could reach up and touch the moon.

Don’t feel bad dude. Only a few can do the moon. Oddly enough, fewer can jump the grand canyon on a motorcycle/rocket sled.

“When you reach for the moon, All you’ll get is the moon, but we have a brand new plan: When you reach for the heavens, you’ll get the moon thrown in. . .” (With apologies to the creators of “Anything Can Happen if You Let it,” one of the BEST optimistic songs ever written (Mary Poppins, the Broadway play) Find it on the web, play it loud and long. We need to hear/sing it in these days.

We need to keep going, keep reaching. Keep learning. Think of all the things developed for the space program that we use today.

Of all the creatures who had yet walked on Earth, the man-apes were the first to look steadfastly at the Moon. And though he could not remember it, when he was very young Moon-Watcher would sometimes reach out and try to touch that ghostly face rising above the hills.

He had never succeeded, and now he was old enough to understand why. For first, of course, he must find a high enough tree to climb.
