The Stone Age didn’t end because we ran out of stones, but because better technology was adopted. It will be the same with the Carbon Age some day.

interesting perspective – or am i misreading/misunderstanding the point? after all it is “wiley’s dictionary definitions” and somehow doesn’t seem characteristic of that character’s normal ‘definitions’ to me but again?so i guess i will boycott, protest, belittle, get offended, comment :), or not.sometimes a punchline fails to convey the humor the author had in mind AND sometimes the punchline is meant to be a discussion maker.in this case i think i will save my reaction till i see a few more punchlines and can form a better perspective on this one.

Boy this really stirred the kettle!

Will somebody please throw a few more logs on the fire? The kettle contents will be hard to swallow if it isn’t thoroughly cooked…

Yeah, I’m kinda getting tired of the politics of hate, as well. I’ve dumped Non Sequitur. It would be a shame to have to dump BC as well. But I just don’t have time to read political hate posing as entertainment.

But let us be honest, there are many toxic materials in nearly all plants. The thing they try to do is turn them into useful, nontoxic materials. Usually they succeed..A captain working on a ship owned by Exxon failed to do his duty. Exxon is still blamed for the result. Exxon got of the shipping business, now letting others own the ships and bear the liability of individuals failing to do their duty..Petr Beckman"s The Health Hazards Of Not Going Nuclear pointed out the greater dangers of deriving energy from other sources. More pollution, more transportation accidents (and this was long before Exxon Valdiz, much coal strip mining, Deepwater Horizon, whichever oil train derailment you noticed, EPA release of toxic coal ash). Obviously nuclear has a few problems too, since it also involves fallible humans. Nuclear disasters are frightening, but they haven’t lit a candle compared to damage others cause daily..Wind turbines should be able to ward off birds with noise makers along the turbines. Might even keep birds out of path of solar thermal hot spots (or just eat the cooked remains)..Geothermal power plants along unpopulated oceanic hot spots could produce the energy needed to synthesize hydrocarbons using water and dissolved carbon dioxide from the ocean.

As long as you want electricity to light your studio or gasoline to drive to the grocery store …. then maybe you should lighten up.

I wonder how many people are using a computer or phone that contains plastic to read this strip and comment on it. Or have any plastics in their home. Or drive a vehicle or fly, or take a train? My daughter (Masters in Environmental Engineering) actually works for Exxon Mobil. There are always Environmental Engineers on staff 24/7 to respond to and notify the government of any releases. Petrochemical companies work very hard these days to follow all environmental regulations and also to invent and create new ways of doing things cleaner and safer. Oil companies are currently working on ways to treat and purify the salty underground water that is naturally mixed in with oil and gas to turn it into fresh water. That is what so called ‘waste’ water is. It was already underground with the oil and gas. It is removed and put back underground, just deeper (farther away from fresh underground water) than it was before.

This is by far the least funny B.C. I’ve ever seen. Wiley’s Dictionary needs to be shelved, permanently.
