I wore the cheapest shoes that would fit over… and stay on… my feet for a decade or so in my twenties. I’m still suffering from what that did to me feet (umpty mumble) years later. Well that and spending (umpty mumble) years walking around despite the pain. And after spending a huge amount of time and energy, I’ve found one style in one brand that only hurts a little bit. They cost a little more than 1/6 of a month’s rent of a moderately nice apartment in a good location… or 50 pairs of high priced high quality sox. Getting new soles glued on costs a lot less than a new pair, but it only works about twice at most before the uppers wear out.

Walk a mile in another man’s shoes… that should give you a pretty good head start, and he won’t be able to run very fast with no shoes…
