    quite simple really… if you have say a gram of matter, any kind will do, you multiply that by 3.0×108 (the speed of light) times 3.0×108, you obtain an enormous amount of energy. it also works in reverse if you take an enormous amount of energy divide it by the speed of light squared you get a bit of matter helium most likely
