Yikes! Parents do need to pay attention to their kids’ reactions to some relatives; it’s not necessarily that the relatives are doing anything criminal, but sometimes the seemingly cute affection is really not appreciated by the kids. Making the kids put up with it can really be damaging.
I had an uncle who steal my nose. He would pretend to pull it off my face and put his thumb through his fingers so it looked like a nose tip and he would say “I’ve got your nose” and then he would “put it back”.. (And he was the nicest of my 3 uncles – the other 2 from the other side of my family.)

I started snapping at relatives who did that. They stopped.Why would anyone think pinching a child is affectionate?
