Dad: What are you cooking for thanksgiving, Tia Carmen? Tia Carmen: I'm not cooking this year. Dad: What?! None of your succulent turkey? No delicious side dishes?! And, goodness, none of that heavenly flan you always make?! Dad: We just can't live without that, Tia Carmen! Tia Carmen: Really? Dad: You know we'd be devastated. Tia Carmen: Okay, I'm waking up at 5 a.m. here's what I need from the market...

Oh, I think Sergio would be happy to go to the store if it meant one of Tia Carmen’s Thanksgiving dinners.

My wife surprized yesterday with pasteles. The Puerto Rican seasonal dish. Seasonal because of all the work that goes into making it.

Yumm, flan. I make a flambed version. Cooked thick enough to slice. I want to use fake sugar this year, except for the caramel top. Well, tonight I’m going to bake a Pumpkin-cheesecake though, it’s much easier.
