There was a knock at the window. It was that dame again. I knew she meant trouble.

How strange are idioms separated by a sea! When she saud Mildred nicked a car i thought ee were talking “scratch and dent”, not Grand Theft Auto! I need some hot coffee!

Considering it was to basically save your life, Shauna, I’d say it was for a good cause. And it looks like Tackleford’s got bigger problems to focus on right now anyway, seeing that most of the town seems to be underwater up to at least one story.

Speaking of, the flood’s bad, but not as apocalyptic as had been advertised by Miflin. I can see the town bouncing back in the end, maybe even for the better if the flood succeeded in clearing the fatberg. Meanwhile, Miflin (or at least his company) is probably getting pinned with the blame for the flood, which on top of everything else he’s probably getting pinned for (like, you know, kidnapping and attempted human sacrifice and all that) is probably going to leave him ruined.

I might have used “appropriated” or simply “acquired” rather than “requisitioned,” but it’ll do.

“No harm, no foul”. Chick-isms have reached Britane!

Also, Mildred has committed a modestly violent carjacking; she didn’t just nick a car. Hope Hugh made it to safety before the deluge.

On the bright side, all the water must make Desmond Fishman feel right at home!

She came in through the newsroom window,

    Protected by a wooden oar.

But now she shucks her wet clothes and looks for a robe

By the banks of her sluice flood floor.

    Didn’t anybody tell her?

    Didn’t anybody see?

Sunday’s news is on the phone to Monday’s paper,

Tuesday’s news on the phone to me.

She said she’d always been a writer,

She worked at fifteen newspapers a day,

And though she thought I knew the story,

Well, I knew what I could not say.

And so I quit the news department,

And got myself a steady job,

And though she tried her best to help me,

She could investigate but she could not write.

    Didn’t anybody tell her?

    Didn’t anybody see?

Sunday’s news is on the phone to Monday’s paper,

Tuesday’s news on the phone to me.

    Oh Lottie, oh yeah.
