With spicy dishes, I always let my husband have a taste before I add more heat. Even if I have made it dozens of times, his palate might have changed again and his appetite for really spicy has gone the way of the dinosaurs already.
It’s still a work in progress. I have a dish that I’ve cooked a hundred times and it seem different every time. Could it be because I don’t measure things?
By golly, Janis is aware of how to boost the male ego…it really isn’t very hard and it goes a long way to making a man feel good! I’m certain that is why they package pickles as they do!
My wife is the opposite. I am neither asked my opinion, nor permitted to make suggestions. It’s taken me 20+ years to get her to go from one pound of meat in her spaghetti sauce, to three pounds (one pound each of hamburger, mild Italian sausage, and spicy Italian).
I am the “every day cook”. He is the gourmet – “let’s make this fancy dish” (which will have some problem, not come out as he thought it would or go bad and need more cooking pots, utensils and dishes/bowls than Thanksgiving dinner needs for cooking) chef.
Problem we have with cooking (and eating in general) for some years (decade or two) is that we can no longer eat many foods we used to eat. We each suffer from several medical conditions – technically if we eliminated everything we are not suppose to eat for one medical condition or another we would be eating only cruciferious vegetables – oh, wait forgot – with low thyroid not suppose to eat them either.

They can cook with Gene & Mary Lou! Time to stir or get off the pot. So to speak

Years ago the ex was making breakfast with an apron on-nothing else. The toast burned.

That’s called “making your loved one feel needed…even after years gone by!” I wish I felt that way….

Interesting; Arlo is more sentimental than his wife.

What a love-ly comic today. The activity, the verbal interchange, the tasty cooking… Reminds me of us.
