The playoff system should be expanded to include more teams, but the Auburn Tigers still have to play better to be included.

So Arlo’s point is that perspective does not make things better?

Sounds to me that someone’s favorite team was excluded from the list.

True, true, I’ve not paid any attention to sports all year.

My concession to sports is I watch one football game a year on New Year’s Day. I don’t care what game it is or who’s playing. That takes care of my interest in sports for the year…

I stopped watching college sports years ago. The corruption in the NCAA makes the professional leagues look like a bunch of amateurs.

He’s correct; if the second and third divisions can hold a playoff with over a dozen teams so can Division I.

The only thing that drives sports is the money. The ‘gambling money’ that is.

I agree! The playoff system has made all the other bowl games irrelevant. (And I’m an Alabama fan!)

like most all that diversity/equality talk from universities is merely for show. As with much of what is taught, theory and practice are two different things

This past year put a lot of systematic unfairness into the light of a different perspective. Hopefully we all learned something from it that won’t be so quickly forgotten.

It has seemed more like an SEC playoff with an outside team thrown in to make the 4th for what seems like forever. Expand it to 8 or 16 conference champions and then we can begin to think about talking about its relevance.

Their tagine in the promo that a place in this has to be earned is great irony.

Remember the system in place before the Division 1 playoff system we have now? I believe it’s still “evolving” and will eventually have more than 4 teams. I also like the way some sports have a sort-of “pre-playoff”, where a team or teams “on the cusp” so to speak, can “earn” their way into the playoffs, like the Pro Football “Wild-Cards” and the similar situation in Pro Baseball. It’s exciting when it’s “all or nothing” for that one game.

Actually, it has put sports in perspective as to its real necessity in our lives. I have dropped watching most sports, except College football. My team made the top four, so I am happy…..

Players get a free ride, room, board, books, a chance to leave with a $50K to $100K college degree, and a shot at the NFL. Kyle Trask of the University of Florida has milked the system for a Bachelors and Masters and has a shot at the NFL. Not too shabby.

I agree, the NCAA has some very strange rules.

i didn’t envy the group that had to determine who would be playing in the different bowl games. saw at least 15 bowl games that are usually played were deleted from the schedule this year i am sure for lack of schools to compete. 3 bowl games for this year have been cancelled so far all due to Covid-9.

Whoever compared Nick Saban to Mitch McConnell is wrong; Nick actually gets something done. No question these “playoffs” should be expanded, but no matter the number, someone will feel left out. I mean look at basketball; 60+ teams, and some still complain. Go Clemson.

Now let’s talk about the NFL playoff system, where a sub .500 team can make the playoff while teams with winning record stays home.
