Transcript:
A cartoon plane with Nazi swastikas on the wings shoots at an American fighter. "Out of the sun, a bandit ambushes Arlo..." The Nazi plane follows as Arlo flies straight up. "A fierce dogfight ensues..." Arlo's plane loses a wing and trails smoke. "Unable to overcome the element of surprise, Arlo's P-51 goes down." A stikc figure floats down on a parachute. "Author's note: Mrs. Jones, remember in sixth grade when you tore up my drawings and kept me after school? How much were you making then?"
Mrs. Jones was my 6th Grade teacher, but she was a very sweet woman. She never would have torn up my drawings, and whatever she made it wasn’t enough. In the writer’s trade, my little exercise in exaggeration is called “lying.”
