Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for March 13, 1997
Transcript:
Ruth yells, "You threw out my rose because you're bitter!" Ruth's mom yells, "That is about enough, young lady!!" Ruth's mom continues, "Besides, that's the most ridiculous notion I've ever heard!" Ruth says, "I was going to press it in a book!" Ruth says, "Whoppee." Ruth's mom remarks, "Then you have a flat, dead rose."
This was Johnson near his best. Short story arcs that illuminated characters and a bit of life. Like Trudeau. Unlike Trudeau, he dropped them flat after just a short run.
