Is it my eyes or did Oop shrink to half size from panel 1 to 2? Interesting to compare those two panels with the one at the header of the page. Notice the difference in size in the header art of Ooola and Oop in comparison to Dinny. Gee Whiz!

I recommend Wizer’s autobiography which puts quite a different spin on this episode. Seems the Wiz was chasing dinosaurs out of Moo instead of other way round.

Looks like Alley Oop is about to get into a heck of a situation! Both in your story and in the Bender’s story. Yours will be more intense, of course, and the Bender’s will be in Sli-Mo.

As well as the mystery of Oop’s changing size, I see the Wizer’s hat, which fell off a day or two back, has managed to get back on his head. Mind, it does have wings …

a wizer on the run is worth two or more dinos in the hand…

uh where are the dinos btw? they were hot on heels at one point.

the artwork today is really juvenile, even by the benders’ low standards

I don’t see Alley as shrinking at all. If you notice where his knees are in relation to Dinny’s eyeball, both panels show the same. And Dinny’s scale which is nearest to Alley’s chest is pretty much in the same place. The perspective changes between panels, which makes Alley look smaller, but it’s just a function of distance.

What do you know Billdi? Wizer was hiding in the bushes.

4 days in a row of Oop sitting on Dinnys head and wondering what’s going on. At least he finally gets to see Wizer. Wonder what exciting thing will happen next.

Apparently Wizer just ran through the hedge.

Wizer really got himself into a jam. Now it’s all in Alley’s hands to preserve him.

    1. The image of Wizer is NOT larger than that of Alley. Once again, you are demonstrably WRONG!-2. How far away from us are Alley and Wizer? Maybe we are actually a long way away (I know I would be as far away from that action as possible). If so, the apparent differences in sizes between Alley and Wizer would be smaller, than they would appear if (say) we were watching from very close by. There is nothing wrong with the scaling in the artwork. -3. Alley is riding on a dinosaur! Wizer is being chased by dinosaurs!. You do know that could only happen in a fantasy world, don’t you? If you’re willing to suspend disbelief over these things — why are you sweating the small stuff? Perpetually.

Here’s another observation.Oop’s sitting on the head of a pretty tall dinosaur. Wizer just ran out of some bushes barely taller than him.So I guess all the dinos chasing Wizer must be super tiny, because it appears that Oop can’t see them from his high vantage point. No wonder the Wizer can outrun them so easily.

ok…lemme jump in too…panel 1 shows Alley on Dinny’s neck with one spine plate in front of him between Dinny’s eyes, in panel there are two spine plates in front of him between Dinny’s eyes…tain’t no perspective gonna add one!!! So there! Nitpickers Unite!!

Wow, that’s bad. At least in HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, in the very last scenes of the death of that giant dragon, the fivefold change of scale was deliberate.

From Sunday: Someone said of dinosaurs (at least the big dumb plant-eaters) that their basic instinct would be, “The eating is good where the others are eating.” Seems to play out well enough here.Regarding today: I take back my earlier thoughts about this strip now merely aiming for too young an audience. It needs some artistic and narrative perfectionism applied from top to bottom.

Chalk it all up to Comic physics and “enjoy” the show. I tell ya, There ought to be an award show for comments on this strip.

Night-Gaunt49, yourself as an artist, why aren’t you doing your own strip, instead of critiquing others?

In a free-market society like ours, people are free to take their patronage elsewhere. We can choose. Ford/Honda? Big Mac/Whopper? Alley Oop/Tarzan?

I can nit-pick with the best of ’em (BFA and 35 years in graphic design), but I try to save it for more significant things than cartoons.

What’s quite obvious is that you have no idea what you’re talking about. - What is the vantage point of the observer? Where are the vanishing points? How far away is Alley from Wizer? -You have no basis for making the assumption that “Wizer would be half as tall (as Alley)”.

Firebrand1, it’s surprising there are any dinos at all, since they died out 60-odd million years before people came along. We have to exercise just a little more “willing suspension of disbelief”.
